Always liked Whitney when he was with the Pens, the battle in him was there and it came out in the playoffs, it's nice to see that he finally realized he needs to show that for the entire season + the playoffs too to be the guy he is now.

Too bad his health problems might come in the way of him having a long career, I hope that's not the case. I'd still gladly have him back on the Pens.

Seguin has more then 160 games played in the NHL (regular season plus playoffs ) and would have to go through waivers.

Since coming to Edmonton he's scored 35 even strength points in 105 games. That's .333 PPG or 27 even strength points over an 82 game season. That goes up to 45 points if he gets his special teams time. Not bad for a guy with busted feet player on a team that went 30-30-29.

Only way I see the Oilers trading him is at the deadline if he recovers some of his mobility but not all of it AND the Oilers feel comfortable with Smid-Petry, Schultz-Schultz as their top 4 and some combo of Marincin/Klefbom/Fedun as their bottom pair.

Why?

Trading Whitney right now is selling low. Also, that makes the Oilers blueline even thinner.

If Whitney is 100% he's an excellent player that is a popular teammate. Better off resigning him than trading him.

If Whitney continues to skate like he did last season then no team would give up valuable assets for a rental.

If Whitney's legs are improved but not quite 100% and the D prospects are showing well I think they would try to move him for a center. The Oilers will want a 2C that complements RNH's style.

1. Boston forgets that (impossible)
2. Howson is asleep at the switch (probable)
3. Hall-Seguin-Yakupov (average age: 19.333)
4. Score 400 goals a season (4.88 per game)
5. The D word (!!!!)
