Well all he mentioned on gr55 yesterday was NHL and ahl. Hopefully they put him on the top line with Porter and Mancari and just let him play .

The exact quote is "I understand I have a chance to play in the AHL if I can't make the NHL", so take that however you want.

I think it's pretty obvious how to take it. He either makes the Sabres or gets sent down to Rochester.

Sounds like if he doesn't make the Sabres, starting in the AHL is automatic. When he says he'll "get a chance" there, I'd assume that means that's where he starts, and if he struggles then the WHL comes into consideration.

Yep. Even Guy Flaming of TPS, in the heart of WHL territory, said he "would be absolutely stunned if he ends up with the Kelowna Rockets this coming season." [LINK. <8:35-14:35>]

However, it'll remain a remote possibility until someone (Regier, Girgensons, Kelowna, etc.) squashes it entirely in the media.

I want to +1 this.

I like it, I'd like it more if Grigs signed as well but I'm happy with this.

ZG: I will be playing in the AHL next season.

Jfb: obviously he meant the Whl since W is a letter in the alphabet and A is the first letter in the alphabet.

Just kidding kid! You're alright.

I like how he likes that the Sabres took two big centers, that he prefers center, but would be okay with wing if Grigs pushes him out...but he will give 200% to get in front of Grigs.

That is going ot be some great internal team competition!!! I really think that Girgensen is going to be a great motivator to Grigorenko.

I also love this

: Though Latvia and Russia are fierce rivals internationally, Girgensons is happy to have Grigorenko on his side when they don the Blue and Gold of Buffalo.

Not only did the Sabres get tougher to play against in the draft, they got tougher to spell too!
