Strange comments about Moore & Bertuzzi. Scary comments about head injuries and what they can do to you.
We traded him to San Jose for a 5th round pick, and then got him back for a 6th round pick by the way. And that 6th round pick seems to have yielded Jonas Holos. How we got it back I don't know though.
you know, I might try to rip off your neck, but you can't really rip off a human's neck. It's not feasible, possible. I tried it. It does not work. I've tried to put my fist through a guy's head, and it does not work.
When Jack Johnson hit Smitty [Ryan Smyth] into the turnbuckle, I looked right at Coach Q like, "Can I go, can I go?!". And he's like, "go where?". And I said, "go after that mother****er". And he said, "no, no, no". I should have just went, but you obviously don't do that or I would have been done right there.
Now if it's warranted, like if somebody goes after your skill player and takes their knee out and their MCL is toast and the stretcher comes out - it might be time to send a message. You might have to leave blood on the ice. At times, I would take two fingers and jam them down people's throats. I would do anything I had to to send a message: You don't **** with my team.
Pretty ******** comments about Bertuzzi though. He's got more sympathy for a guy that ended someones career with a sucker punch that gave him post concussion for life probably, then for Moore because he thinks he thought he was better than people because he went to Harvard (which I never got that impression at all from interviews)? Which "one mistake" is worse?
I wouldn't be surprised if that is just Parker's neanderthal self consciousness. Anyone that can articulate a sentence, his immediate thought is, "what you think you're better than me? I'll kick ***ing your ass."
The best thing about this interview was that it was REAL! Parker didn't sugar coat anything, which means the guys at MHH told him to make it was raw as he wanted... in other words, let Parker be himself.
The guy beat the heck out of other enforcers in the league for a living... so I am not surprised by his mentality. I was a little surprised to see him come to Bertuzzi's defense. That was very interested and it gave a little insight into the locker room... maybe Moore wasn't the most popular guy on the team? Sure, it doesn't right the wrongs Bertuzzi did, but Parker was kind of saying "Hey, I might've flipped my lid too".
Fantastic read. Lots of controversial points that I don't really want to pick on now, but I guess that's what I'd expect from more of a fringe NHLer, they're going to have a different way of looking at things. Shame I never got to see SP play really, though, especially watching a year and a half of David Koci
As an aside, he kinda looks like Opie from SOA, with the touque on.
