1. There's no one left in Free Agency who fits the mold described. The ones who remain have flaws.
2. The type of player Montreal wants isn't going to come cheap and you don't get "something for nothing" very much in the NHL.
3. I don't see Montreal having a surplus of anything right now, so trading for Player "X" is therefore just going to open up another hole. If I'm mistaken about this, someone correct me, but I don't see a surplus of top-6 wingers, centres, goalies, or top-4 defensemen on the roster.
As a result of this situation. Montreals best option is to settle on someone like Kubina and hope they "return to form" or take a chance on a player who is inexperienced.
