I am not sure but we'd be set on defence with him, til Klefbom comes up.

Ryan had 57 points, 0.88 PPG as a 21 year old in his second year. Hall had 53 points, 0.87 PPG as a 20 year old in his second season.

So Hall outproduced Ryan as a younger rookie and essentially tied Ryan's second season, again as a younger player. Don't know where you are getting your stats from, but they are wrong.
You don't lose rookie eligibility from playing 20 games in a season. When you play more than 25+ in a year, then it's classified a rookie season. I know where I'm getting my stats from. You're the one that's wrong.

While the terms you were using are correct, the impact the stats have is considerably less because you left age out entirely, which is fairly important in this case.

But if he uses all the facts, he can't properly craft the argument he's inventing.

Exactly. Ryan didn't play his first full season until he was 21, Hall was 18. That's a three year age gap. Ryan was still in Junior for that year and the year after. Still unable to put up as many points as Hall did in his draft year...

how about trading one of our D prospects for a big C prospect. We have no one coming up that would challange for a top 6C spot.. Pitlick might be the closest one.

Brock Nelson (7.0C) or Strome (8.0C)
for
Marincin(8.0C) or Gernat(7.5D) or Musil(7.5C) or Davidson(7C)

fair enough then, if you want to use that as a definition of a rookie season... but looking at age/NHL-experience equivalent seasons, hall blows ryan out of the water... its not even close in their first year and hall still comes out ahead on age for the second year

hall > ryan, and i don't know how this is even up for discussion

Major no to Strome. I would have some interest in Nelson, but I doubt he'd be cheap

I think Hall > Ryan, but Hall's injury history does scare me.

If Hall gets injured again this season, I'll support the opinion that it he is injury prone. I still feel 2 out of the 3 major injuries he suffered were "freak" accidents though.

Ryan played his earlier years on a great hockey team. It's like comparing Seguin to Hall, except Hall still looks better than Ryan even while playing on a lottery team. If Hall played with Getzlaf and Perry that line would be unstoppable.

Stats and team situations aside, I just think Hall has more impact than Ryan.

I'd also be really cautious about getting rid of Marincin. 6'6 dman who I could see ending up around 220lbs. Really good defensively and it turns out he's really good offensively too (at least at the jr level). I can't wait to see Marincin in the AHL.

I would love for the Oilers to acquire Clowe and Murray from SJ. They are both big, tough and would provide our team with grit. Both are ufa at end of comin season so they could be had maybe cheaply.

Clowe-RNH-Ebs
Hall-Horcoff-Yak
Smyth-Gags-Hemsky
Eager-Belanger-Petrell
Jones, Hordi

Smid-Petry
Murray-J. Schultz
Whitney-N. Shultz

p.s. Before people rip Horc with Hall and Yak, I did it based on Kruegers comment about keeping Gags and Hemmer together as he likes that pair with each other

And "sniper" has more to do with his shot, not goals scored. By your definition Ryan Smyth was a top sniper in the league when he was scoring 35+ earlier in his career.

Watch a highlight reel of goals scored by these two players. One seems to snipe all his goals in. The other seems to get most of his goals from crashing the net or cleaning up rebounds.

Both are effective because they result in goals. There's just different ways of classifying scores. Seguin has a better shot than Hall. It doesn't mean he's gonna score more goals per se. He doesn't get nearly the number of scoring chances that Hall gets.
Yeah those 2 extra goals in 20 extra games looks BEASTLY! I'll take it one step further 40 goals in 155 career games for Seguin (at the same age no less although I guess for you a rookie is a rookie is a rookie and they should all be considered equal regardless of age) meanwhile Hall only has 9 more career goals in 29 less games than Seguin. It's hilarious how much you crap on Hall while with the other hand pump Seguin's tires. Would you take Bobby Ryan over Seguin? I sure as hell wouldn't, so why would we take Ryan for Hall?

I am sure that the players drafted in the 2012 draft will be grandfathered in. That is the way that it normally works.

Nashville will surely match but I'm sure they won't like paying him $10 million+ in salary for the next 8 years or however long he will be making that money.

I feel horrible for Nashville.

7 Days to match, do they match or take the 1st round picks which are pretty much guaranteed 20th overall or worse given how good Philly will be in the next 4 or 5 yrs?

Flyers sign Shea Weber to 14 year offer sheet!

Darren Dreger
Breaking: Shea Weber agrees to offer sheet with Philadelphia. 14 years, upwards of $100 mil. Preds have 7 days to match. Wow!!

Damn!! Holmgren is always in the middle of everything.

Oh snap.

Do the Preds have to match? Can they afford to lose Weber and Suter this off season?
