Detroit Re-Signs Kyle Quincey [2 Years/$3.775 AAV]
"You never want to see a team lose, but you're a professional hockey player, and that's what you get paid to do — play hockey and not sit and watch," Quincey said. "It's hard to root for your team, and try to help your team, be part of the team, when you're just sitting. (Tuesday) night we lose, so now I get a chance. If we keep winning, I don't get a chance."
It didn't sit well with a lot of fans, and I daresay with management & the coaches too.

Still scratching my head at the money ericsson and quincey(diff % of cap i know) got. Holland is slipping.
Not really. Quincey has similar cap hits to EJ, Salo, Liles, Brewer, Schenn and Stuart. Enstrom is on a fantastic deal as is Orpik. But Quincey is right on par or better than all of those guys I mention first. Some are better at certain parts of the game but I don't think any of them are as well rounded. EJ probably is and will likely be better though.

For every one of those "overpayments" we have an equally large underpayment on the books. Howard and Helm right above 2 million, Filppula at 3 million and Kronwall at 4.75 million.

He doesn't need to be a Norris candidate to be better than Quincey. KQ wishes he could grow up to be like EJ one day.
Filppula at 3 million is a joke. Hudler gets 4 million and he ain´t Filppula. Not even close.
They are almost the same player statistically (obviously not the only part of the game) but there isn't that big of a gap between the two.
