Well I won't be able to sleep for the next week. I can not believe this has happened. I said not too long ago it was way to quiet on the Weber front in the off season thread. Seemed like something was brewing.
we need someone to clarify the compensation!

Nashville was working on a trade and its believed several deadlines passed before Flyers grew tired of waiting. Weber signed offer sheet.

I'm told a number of teams were in on a possible Shea Weber trade. If Preds don't match, they receive 4- 1st round picks as compensation.
Darren Dreger
This makes me believe that the Preds have no intention of signing Weber for that kind of money. Maybe that's just hope talking lol.

Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger
I may have made an error on compensatory picks. Depending on aav, it could be 2 firsts, 2nd and a 3rd round pick if Preds don't match.

That's moronic by Holmgren. Now we won't get him until at least next year, and even then, it could be any other team.

Homer is a gambler by heart. He is going to swing for the fences. I doubt this works, but he is not shy about trying.

Make that Snider. For all the criticism he gets no other owner wants to win more.....in all of sports. When he is gone it will be a huge huge loss.
Side note, if the aquisition of luke schenn was to make weber feel comfortable in philly than genius move as well.

You have got to give Snyder and Holmgren a lot of credit here regardless of outcome. When they see a need, they do whatever they can to try to address it.

Do offer sheets preclude the inclusion of NTCs or NMCs?

Agreed 100% percent. And even for some of the "bone headed" moves... they are good businesses decisions in my opinion. There is a reason we need a crazy mofo on the team each year as well... helps to sell tickets.

If Nashville doesn't match they might as well forget about trying to sell tickets next year because they'll be no more fans. They'll match. Honestly, I don't get Homer's reasoning in trying this.

I'm just worried they match and then NSH trades Weber to the Pens next off-season.
Huge risk...

I really dont know what to think about this.
One thing is for sure. Holmgren does things his way. He doesnt give a **** what people think of him.
If Weber ends up here, probably fair to say the Flyers will trade Mez for a pick.

weber has a no trade clause that kicks in immediately. 2nd pens would have 4 players taking up 40 percent of the cap.
