I saw that a while back. Was kind of surprised that none of the Niemi bashers have already stated that we should get him and trade Niemi.

Hell that wouldn't be a bad idea to sign Hasek and trade Niemi. Hasek will probably get injured in practice and the coaching staff will be forced to run a Greiss-Stalock combo.

Breaking: Shea Weber agrees to offer sheet with Philadelphia. 14 years, upwards of $100 mil. Preds have 7 days to match. Wow!!

In case anybody wanted the source

They'll match and then Weber is screwed. Should've waited a year.

What's the compensation for a contract like that? 4+ 1st rounders?

Nashville was working on a trade and its believed several deadlines passed before Flyers grew tired of waiting. Weber signed offer sheet.
So then I guess Weber doesn't want to be there and NSH won't handcuff him now by matching? Or they match and trade him next year. Either way, Holmgren is an idiot.

Wow, i think the preds have to match him for now, then maybe a trade if and when they can get something for him.

I may have made an error on compensatory picks. Depending on aav, it could be 2 firsts, 2nd and a 3rd round pick if Preds don't match.

Preds most definitely match if that is the case.

I imagine that the salary structure of the contract will be the biggest hindrance to Nashville matching.

Depending on how much that + sign is, I don't see how the Preds don't match this. They were ready to commit that type of money to Suter. Even at a flat structure, the cap hit is $7.14m/year. And you know its not flat structured if its coming from Holmgren

Holy ****! I wonder how much "upwards of $100M" is. If Suter got 13 years, $98M... wow.

Its going to be fascinating to see financial terms of Weber's offer sheet. Hearing in one calendar year, he could make $26 mil.

Dreger just tweeted that SJ was a big player in trade talks for Weber. Now I believe that guy who said he saw Weber in town last week.

Well maybe the reported sighting of Weber and the mysterious Asian looking guy was true

Darren Dreger ‏@DarrenDreger

I'm trying to go back to bed. More info coming in. Philly, NYR, Detroit and San Jose were big players in Weber trade scenarios.

Holy crap, if that is true maybe DW really does want to trade Boyle for a forward and get a long term replacement for Boyle.

He should get Yandle! That'd be cool!

Of course he does. Boyle is 36. But until he does find a replacement as long as there is life in Boyles game he is not expendable

Yeah but they're on the short end of this one for the same reason that they were short on Suter. That term is just not something they will do.

I know obvious but this would be a sign he's actively looking for one and its a major priority. DW seems to be two steps ahead, hope he has something amazing up his sleeve other than tanning creme.

The Weber situation is a once in a generation opportunity

Oh they might have gone for 10 years for Weber, but they wouldn't pay him 30 million or more in signing bonuses.
