The Pens are picking up half his salary next season ($2.35) and the Kings only have to pay $3.1 mil this season (which could be covered by insurance if Allison misses 15 more games).
If Ally misses the season, the Kings would recoup $6.4 mil, which would pay for Straka completely. Of course they have to pay Allison with the insurance money, but only about $1.6 mil in that case.
And of course I'm not rooting for Allison to be out all season, but this Straka move is pretty great anyway you look at it.
