Pronger's money wouldn't matter though since you can go 10% over the cap anyway right?
The issue is there's not an overlap from the summer "go 10% over the cap free" period and the day when LTIR can be used. So they'll have to get creative on opening day. Or they'll just move Meszaros and roll with Kimmo-Weber, Coburn-Grossmann, Schenn-Gervais/Gus/MAB/Lilja. I actually think that's most likely, though I hope they can convince a GM they don't HAVE to move Meszaros so they don't get stuck with another Gagne-for-Walker pile of putrescence.
And some of you guys thought we were going into the season with what we currently have on the roster at D. Even if Nashville matches, Homer is going to make a move to improve the defense one way or another.
Honestly, I don't know why Homer did this. I came here looking for ideas in case there was something I missed, but it just seems so crazy. Nashville is guaranteed to match. Hell, they might even match first thing in the morning. They are under the floor, and if Weber wants to be traded, the market just got larger than ever for Weber. Teams, like the Islanders, who also need to worry about the cap floor, had no interest in him because they would have to spend a fortune and he would leave in a year, now he can go anywhere as he is signed till all eternity. He could arguably cost more for the Flyers in a trade now that his value and marketability has shot up. I don't know why they wouldn't just wait for free agency if a trade couldn't be made. This makes little sense to me. I love the Flyers, but man this move leaves me puzzled.
