Henri Ikonen will likely leave KalPa for Kingston Frontenacs (OHL). I have not seen confirmation yet, but Eliteprospects has him on the Kingston roster.

It is allowed, but very, very rare.

Why is it so rare?

Player's reluctance to join certain team's probably is one factor

Any SM-liiga forwards headed to the SEL this year? Anyone got something, rumors? Perrin? Is Bomersback any good?

Hostikka stays in Kärpät, never signed any paper with Slovan Bratislava. Weird

HIFK head coach Petri Matikainen signs a three-year contract with Avangard Omsk. Interesting.

But only in HIFK. Other doors are open for him still.

Damn. IFK just became a legit championship contender.
Late July might not be the best time to lose your coach but I'm pretty sure anyone can do better than Matikainen. Did they get a compensation for him too? Get rid of the terrible coach and get paid for it. Win-win situation for them.

They don't have nearly as good team on paper as they had last year, but with the amount of talent SM-liiga lost this off-season, they have a competitive team on their hands. Another top-6 center wouldn't hurt though.
At the moment I see Jokerit as the biggest favorite, with Kärpät, KalPa and HIFK rounding out the top 4. Tappara, Ässät and maybe Lukko have a good chance to take a straight playoff-spot. JYP and Pelicans are wildcards. Depending on what there's available for them in the market, I could see them challenging for a place in the top 6.
All that will change if the lock-out happens though.

Just wondering if anyone knows whether or not Jonatan Tanus plans on coming over to Peterborough next season?

F Ramzi Abid
EC Salzburg --> JYP
Let's see can he keep up with the fast pace of SM-Liiga but it's nice to see teams still getting physical players on their roster.

Angelo Esposito --> Pelicans
...
The infamous
ANGELO ESPOSITO --> Pelicans
But yeah, in all seriousness, high risk medium/high medium reward move IMO.

To put it nicely, I'm not expecting much from him.
