They'd technically be trading the ROFR to the team who would match their own offer.

You've done nothing but make an enemy. If you guys ever have an RFA at any point in the future, Nashville will make him an offer sheet, forcing you guys to pay up, ****ing up your cap and what not.

If i were you guys, i'd be straight up pissed off with Holmgren
I remember the last time people said this and never happened.

Love the hate Homer is getting on the main board right now. Of course it is mostly from Pens and devils fans...

Would you say that Homer trading for Pronger did no make them a contender (prior to the freak injury)? In 2010 they were in a very good position to win the Cup... thanks in large part to Pronger's play and leadership, IMO.

If they don't match. I think technically they would be trading the flyers picks back to them for players.

Either way, Homer and Poile seem to have a working relationship. I think both clubs want weber to sign it. Either homer gets his man, or he did a big favor for poile, both save face. It may be the first friendly offer sheet.

By the way, remember when people said nobody's gonna sign a long term contract with the Flyers ever again?

Coming from HF Oil side of things...but been a Philly fan since 76.

I guess the big question is does Nashville match or not. I'm thi8nking (aka: hoping), that Holmer has a pretty good idea that they won't. Maybe the Preds weren't getting the offers for Weber that they wanted?

Who know.

All I know is that Holmgren is awesome.

He GM's like he played. Makes life miserable for the opposition!

if they decline, doesn't that mean Weber is a Flyer ? why they need for a 2nd deal ?

or is that Homer being a nice guy ?

Good point. Those four draft picks will likely help this team more than the best defender in the league.

You really don't think he would sign with the Pens?

Shero: Jake, how would you like to play beside the best player in the world for a lot more than you made last year?
Voracek: That's something I'm going to have to think about. I'm a little concerned with his injury history.
Shero: Well, if he does get injured you would play beside the second best player in the world.
Voracek: Where do I sign?

The second deal would basically be in exchange for Nashville's agreement not to match.

Spending $26M in one calendar yr, NSH would be forking over 16% of entire franchise net worth ($163M in '11 accd to Forbes) to match offer

Yeah, heh. If you're going to fork over a quarter of the contract on Day 1, that might change some minds.

Yes. Idiots. I love these fans wanting to take shots at the Flyers, but what they really want is for their GM/team to be as aggressive as the Flyers. When all else fails, they go with the "Kings won the cup" argument even though the Flyers would do those trades again in a heartbeat.

If Nashville doesn't match Schenn's mentor Weber will be playing with him. Pretty exciting.

Sounds like the talk they had with Parise .

Edit: anyway, I guess I'm counting too much on the personal side of the story. This years' Crosby's comments on Voracek and vice versa didn't help the case much and from what I remember from national teams games, Voracek and Malkin didn't seem "pretty well" either. Voracek going to the locker room with Neal who a few times absurdly attacked Jakes good buddies like Couts or Schenn? I just don't see that happening unless there is a huge financial leverage (which I said I'd consider 5.5M+)

Homer: How does $100+ million over 14 years sound?
Weber: No way am I signing a deal with you guys. You'll just trade me in a few years anyway.
Homer: How'd it work out for the last couple of guys?
Weber: Touche.

One of the best things about this whole Weber offer sheet is the so called "insiders" saying they were sleeping! LOL Really, you act like you have connections with every org and you were sleeping the night you "should have" known that a team was getting close to an offer sheet. They are trying real hard to save face right now.
