When a star has been forcibly traded, the team losing the star has never been the one coming out as a winner. For all intensive purposes, this is Nashville being forced to trade Weber for 4 1st round picks.

Love the idiots saying people will throw massive offers at Giroux/Schenn/Voracek. They have to want to sign the deal with another team.

There is absolutely no way the Flyers let Giroux get to RFA and I'm sure B. Schenn is in a rush to leave when they just traded for his brother.

Can't see how Nashville won't match after offering a contract similar to Suter. Not to mention the fallout from fans if they go into next year losing Weber after losing Suter to fa

I really don't get where that kind of thinking is coming from everywhere. I mean, good for him getting this done to the degree it is, but it doesn't really take any sort of balls if you have the money. You have the money, you offer it, you hope you're a team/city the guy likes, and you hope the other team can't match. He used a blueprint that has been used for most really major free agent signings in a while. He's not even overpaying (compared to the market) like you used to have to on offer sheets. Can't fault him for anything, obviously, but it didn't really take a genius or even considerably above average balls to work this type of thing out...

Weber shouldn't have ever made it to RFA anyways. Pollie should of signed Weber to that 3 year 7m+ a year deal.

I'd say that is better compensation as it helps the current team more than 4 firsts but if I already have Weber signed for 14 years I say thanks but no thanks. We'll keep our franchise player and build around him.

They need to reach the cap floor. They can't save cap space.

B/c Poile didn't want to let Weber walk when he became a UFA? Weber is absolutely worth $7.85m AAV.

Losing Radulov makes it at least 3 stars! Seriously, how can they expect to keep fans? Lose your stars, trade a home town local boy...trainwreck franchise atm.

Nashville better match. I do not want Weber on the Flyers. That'd be horrible.

It's just the fact that Holmgren continues to make the biggest or most interesting moves almost constantly

It takes balls to literally go after every player or screwing other teams out of getting a franchise D man

If Nashville loses him (which I doubt they will), that will be Suter, Weber, Radulov, Tootoo, and Kostitsyn. That's brutal.

Of course it takes balls. He's handing over 4 1st round picks for a player for an enormous sum, and possibly breaking a wonderful relationship with the Predators (not saying it will, but Poille can't be thrilled).

Takes balls in my eyes. I can say without much doubt Homer probably makes the big move more than any other current GM (which isn't always a good thing, but it's true).

Poile can now lock Weber for eternity without giving him NTC/NMC. He wins imo.

So, does anyone know if Nashville can even afford to match? Huge money for a guy who doesn't want to be there. The numbers being thrown around for the first couple of years are enormous. Even if they wanted to trade him, they'd have to wait a year, and pay him all that money.

Doing something incredibly risky isn't necessarily bravery, it also could be recklessness.

Relevant picture is relevant.
