Another angle Nashville needs to consider is the signing bonuses and a potential lockout.....for a team that is as cash-strapped as they are, can they justify paying out $26 million in signing bonuses to one player during a period where there could potentially be lesser hockey-related revenue coming in if there is another lost partial or full season?

If the salary was structured more like Suter/Parise... Nashville would match. because the salary is $1 mill and the bonuses are huge... I don't think Nashville can match that.

I think this entire **** ball avalanche started when Poile took Weber to arbitration and compared Weber to Yandle and Byfuglien, instead of Chara and Lidstrom.
That arbitration process was not a nice event between Poile and Weber. Consider also that the board found in favor of Weber?

Philly is a known team for offer sheet usage...they've done it in the past. Not a surprise they tried it.
Now, this doesn't mean Nashville won't match either, as Vancouver certainly matched when Philly did this for Kesler.
I think Weber just wants a deal done now, and I don't think this means he's against staying in Nashville, as he knows doing this now means it's a strong possibility, when if he waits a year, he can guarantee he won't be back there.
Come to think of it...I think Weber did this to force a long term deal that may not even be available after the new CBA. Everyone is expecting the cap circumvention deals will be gone after that....possible contract length limitations.

It would be very beneficial for the league to help them get a loan or some cash. Having a franchise that doesn't make much money (if any) completely bottom out and lose all their players vs a franchise that will probably sell out every game and make lots of money and has a rich owner regardless of whether Weber comes or not...
You have a situation this summer where two smaller market teams that don't make money are losing their franchise players, potentially to big market teams with plenty of cash. It just doesn't look good from the outside and kind of speaks to the need to improve revenue sharing or reduce/re-work the salary cap and floor calculations as a percentage of revenues.

man those 4 1sts will give them a very slim chance on getting the impact of not having suter and weber on the blue line, and its years away assuming they don't panic and rush guys. i think NSH will be ok they have some solid prospects.
also getting Andrei and Radulov burned that team side ways. thew should have targeted better character guys for their scoring hole, i have a feeling both weber and suter were pissed that Preds solution to scoring was that, i think poile held back from making a move for say a bobby ryan.
