wonder what qualifies as a "purchase"? could you buy a keychain? or a bumper sticker?
surprised they didnt set a minimum, like $10..remember this past spring, you could get your Connolly nameplate changed to Hodgson for free with no purchase required...
Darcy Regier called Girgensons a Buffalo type player, Lindy Ruff called called Ott a Buffalo type player. I think their objective is to build a hard working blue collar team. What do you think about that? I would rather have the hardest working team then the most skilled team. I would like both, but if I had to chose its the hard working team.
And kind of OT but Ruff looks like crap. He could use a vacation.

Kind of ironic when one looks back to 1997 and realizes that's the kind of team Regier/Ruff inherited from Muckler/Nolan.

Personally, I found the 2005-07 seasons, where the Sabres succeeded with skill and speed, far more entertaining as a fan than I did the 1997-99 seasons. I'll always choose the fast-skating, high-scoring games over the defense-first, grind-it-out types.

I remember those Hardest working teams in the 90's had a lot of speed as well.
I think the 2005-2006 team had the perfect mix of hard work and skill. It went away a little in 2006-2007, but the skill went up.
Most cup teams have a good mix or hard work and skill.
Those "hardest" working teams in hockey were really garbage teams with no talent carried by the most dominant player of all-time. I want a cup winning team, I don't care if they score a lot or hit a lot I just want to win. Remember the year Satan led our team in scoring with 46 points and Zhitnik was second with 45? Yeah they made it to the ECF solely because of Dominik Hasek.

I think we've got pretty good talent on the back end. Up front, I think we're moving towards a Boston kind of lineup. No gamebreakers, but good talent, some physicality and effort on 4 lines. Of course, Boston wouldn't have been a cup team without the best goaltending run, IMO, in history, so Miller has to carry the team if they're gonna be contenders with this lineup.

But, I think you need a nice blend of grit and talent and this team has been light on the grit part for a while.
The G&G picks are what the team needs in a blend of talent (Grigorenko) and grit (Girgensons).
I have no problem in wanting to move the blend in the direction that they have so far this off season.
Considering the owner has said he likes two things -- French Connection type skill/scoring and Broad St. Bullies style physical play, is there any wonder why they're going in the direction they're moving?

It takes a nice blend of both to win the Cup, they seem to be on board with that. Finally.
Now it's a matter of finding out if the skill is skilled enough, the toughness is tough enough, and are the goalies able to elevate their game to a Stanley Cup level of excellence.
It may all be for not if the later doesn't show up.
I wish we'd do something else, but if we don't I want us to play Grig and Girg or atleast one of them for a long time. Grig seems a bit more valuable on the offensive side but we need leaders and Girgs talks idk I'm losing it guys.

That really shouldn't be a factor. If it is, the fan base ought to be rather uncomfortable. We wouldn't have hired Terry Pegula for GM, so why would we want him to tell our GM how to do his job?

I agree that an owner should let his hockey department make the hockey decisions. But I hardly see how him saying he wants an extremely tough team that also has extremely talented players as evidence of him telling Darcy how to do his job. I'm pretty sure thats a general recipe that any owner/gm/hockey fan would get behind.
