Someone mentioned those numbers arent very accurate because it doesnt take into account certain revenue. Apparently it said the flyers only profited like $1.5m last year.

I do not see how Nashville can let Weber leave. But in saying that I have not been this excited since we had to wait for the arbitrator's decision on Lindros. I just have to calm my jets until this is over.

That will make it difficult.

$27m over a calender year is literally one third of their revenue. Holy ****!

Hello Scott Gomez on line #1...

I know Montreal didn't sign him but you traded for him.

That's worse.

If Weber lands here, I think they sign Voracek to his deal and see what that teams brings. No sense making any moves right away to fill a hole we arent aware of yet.

At the same time, that is some insanse d-depth. We could certainly afford to trade a bottom pair player with Gervais, Gus, Manning, Bourdon, Lilja and Walker available to slot in in the event of injury.

What I havent seen mentioned yet is how this affects Kimmo.

I believe it will allow for him to be much more fresh come the playoffs. Weber-Coburn would be a great pairing, with Timmo to slot into the second pairing, or perhaps play him with Schenn to help limit minutes, but also to mentor the youngster.

Weber-Coburn
Mesz-Grossmann
Kimmo - Schenn

Thats how I'd like to see it, it puts an offensive d-man with a defensive minded player, limits Kimmo's minutes to keep him fresh as can be, while mentoring the youngster, and allows for the potential to let Mesz get a few extra minutes, either to sell him, or help in his development.

Thoughts?

Yeah, but the difference is we have an owner who can more/less inject equity into the club to cover potential loses ect.

That 26 million is gonna have to come from their ownership's pocket and that is 26 million that they may or may not even have

this article really sums up the financial impact this deal could have on nashville

http://deadspin.com/5927347/shea-web...ng-masterpiece

The more i think about it, the more this offer sheet screams to nashville to take the pics. They seriously cant match. How the flyers have put up so much cash up front in bonuses that cant be rolled back in any cba negotiating. If they do match i fear nashville will struggle financially something no one wants to see. The safe route for the franchise is to lick their wounds now and live to fight another day.

the worst thing you can do is get into an argument with a montreal fan. I mean seriously worst comes to worst the common denominator of any argument is 24 cups and that is why you will always lose .

He won't play in 2012, probably not 2013, but theoretically he could be symptom free in 2013 - 2014 and fit into Kimmo's space.

But I think he is like Keith Primeau, he is done.

@BroadStBull

The fact that Weber was teammates with Hartnell and Timonen in Nashville played a role in him signing the offer sheet, Epp said.

That's pretty awesome actually.

While I think Timonen retires, I would be SHOCKED if Hartnell doesn't get re-upped should Weber end up here.

Supposedly he had talks with Hartnell before agreeing to the offer sheet.

Seems like they weren't even close to signing him in the first place.

Pretty awesome if true, and isn't he tight with the brothers Schenn also? I am really hoping this happens Weber in Orange and Black seems perfect to me

Ticking off Homer=craziness

People can rail all they want against this move but I've been sitting here all day with a huge grin on my face. The "get him or keep him out west" move is awesome.

Is it just me or would Homer be a great guy to head into a zombie apocalypse with on your side? His mentality of "we get something either way" mentality would pay off in spades.

Yep, they train together in the offseason. You know the Schenns were in his ear about this.

Well it's probably been said many times, but it shows that shipping Richards, Carter, and JVR out the door has no impact on signing big named players. I think we can all put that to rest now.

Yeah, today is a good day for Holmgren...and Snider. Mr. Snider's fingerprints are all over this as well. You don't offer this sort of contract without ownership's approval.
