Brodin has the upper hand on Dumba for sure. But who knows he might play his way into our top 6 making Falk/"Stiffler" expendable and Brodin sent down.

Although i wouldn't count on it. After what Brodin did at the WC I'm pretty sure you can all pencil him in on the Wild roster this season. He's going to have a big camp I feel like

Looking back on the draft and what we needed in our system...does anyone think that even if we had a higher selection this was our guy all along?? I think maybe we would have selected Murray or Reinhart earlier but I think Dumba had to be 3 or higher on the Wild's defenseman list

If Dumba plays in Red Deer when does his contract start?

It slides until next year or whenever he plays in the A or NHL.

Awesome, can't wait to see him and Brodin on a pairing down the road. Brodin sounds like the safer shut down one while Dumba looks to be the offensive of the two.

I will still be a bit surprised if he gets the 7-9 game tryout.

Seems like to big of a gamble and a slap in the face to some others but we'll see what happens. Couldn't be happier to have this done with

Love Dumba!!!!!!

I apologize if this has already been answered but can Dumba play in the AHL next season?

Nope.

CHL or NHL. Should be CHL as expected.

Wow depending on how things go next year is going to be a tough decision I would think. I think its obvious he need one more year in Juniors if only to mature physically a bit. Next year however might be a waste of a year to send him back.

it's not a waste of a year if he is playing in the CHL... he would still have his current 3 year deal

No chance Dumba plays this season in Saint Paul and he shouldn't! No reason to rush a 17 year old into the league. Yeah 17. Give him another year and 6 days or whatever it is till he hits 19 and then we can talk NHL power hitting defenseman.

Kid needs to grow, work on his positioning and overall game. Nothing to rush and in return we will get a more polished prospect. It's a million times easier to have him develop in the CHL than NHL, as in work on certain pieces of his game. We want him to come to Saint Paul ready to play his best, not slowly learn.

Well I didn't mean it would waste a year of the contract. I just think we expect him to dominate the CHL this year. Does it do a player any good to dominate a level two years in a row? I guess if he doesn't dominate this point is moot but thats my point in regards to wasting a year.

I think everyone agrees Dumba will go back to Juniors... no question. That still doesn't mean it isn't out of the realm of possibility that he earns himself a 9 game look from the Wild.

It would do him some good to get some extra NHL coaching etc. IF HE EARNS IT.

Whoa, I wouldn't go that far.

Dominate the WHL? I doubt it. He should improve a lot though.

Well he dominated his age group in U-18 so maybe my expectations are a little high.

To be fair, U-18 isn't the Western Hockey League.

If he can mirror what Hamilton did, I will be very happy.

Would like to see him increase his point production another 10-15, maybe even 20... and also get more assists.

I have no issues with him getting a 9 game tryout, I just don't think the contract guarantees anything. Like the post said a few above, he will have to earn everything.

Good luck Dumba!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, let the kid develop in Red Deer. No rush. He already gave us a glimpse of his raw talent in training camp.

Put that kid in the oven and let him bake.

I don't think will even get a sniff of a regular season Wild game for two years minimum. The kid has so much to learn. He is not close to ready for the NHL.
