The $ is silent.

Motivation or not, it's a middle finger to the Preds. Imagine if one of our most important players wanted a gigantic contract and didn't think he'd get it from the Wild. Yet he wanted to stay. So he goes to tour another team's facilities and signs an offer sheet with them for an insane contract that includes a bank worth of dough in the first year. Our team has no choice but to match it. So the leader of our club not only made the GM agree to a contract that could seriously hurt the owners financially (not referring to cap space), but he was also easily willing to leave the club by signing that offer sheet. Sorry, but if I'm a Pred's fan, I'd be pizzed off at him even when the team matches it. I wouldn't feel good about welcoming the "captain" back when he signed an offer sheet with another team....doesn't matter what his motivation was.

People here are ripping on Poile for this? That has to be the most ****ing dumb thing I've heard related to hockey. The team last year was a favorite for the cup, but slipped when they came across a team with a streaking goalie and a lot of absolutely ****ed up calls.

Poile has consistently managed budget contenders in a way no other team in the league has even come close to. The whole arbitration argument is ridiculous and over the top. Honestly, anyone who sees that as some reason to "give the boss the finger" needs to grow a backbone and act like an adult instead of a 15 year old girl. Seriously.

If you're Nashville. . .how are things so different if you are allowed to match the Wild offer and Suter accepts?

Weber isn't going to do something like this? Of course he would. But now you've already got Suter's contract around your neck.

Yep. I think Weber is the idiot in this situation. Heck, according to TSN, Weber and his agent gave the Preds early notification that an offer sheet would be signed, but they gave them some time to work out a trade first. Does that sound like a guy who wants to stay? Where ever he ends up, he'll still be screwing the Preds. I don't care if it was only about the money or even if he wants to stay in Nashville. He spit on the club.

If that's true....yeah......dude totally gave a middle finger to the Preds. If he stays, rip the letter off his chest.

And watch Nash get hurt early on meaning trade talks are dead. They're GM has to understand that they are gonna lose the trade no matter what. Nash wants out. While he IS overrated, guys like him don't grow on trees around this league. And he means more to the Jackets than he would if on better teams. Losing him is gonna hurt. There's no way around that. You can't replace the guy. So stop asking for the moon and stars, because it's not gonna happen. You won't win the trade. Your team is going to feel the hit, but it'll feel it much more if you sit on your hands for too much longer. Accept the fact that you only have a few teams to make a deal with and that you have no choice but to move him. Take what you can and move on before you find yourself in a situation where teams are lowering their offers and you're stuck with an unhappy player.

As for the Weber situation, pretty interesting seeing his agent mention that if Suter were still in Nashville, this wouldn't have happened. My goodness. Suter is a bigger troll than we thought.

^Remember, Nash is under contract for 6 more years... so even if he does get hurt and they can't trade him... it's not like he can just walk away.

Gotta say TaLoN is awesome in the trade board thread.

True. But you'd still have an unhappy player who after recovering would have to spend some time in a Jackets' jersey playing possessed in order to prove that he's worth what their GM is asking. That weight would still be dragging the team down and prolonging the process. And it could result with teams offering less knowing that he was recently injured. The worse the injury, the more it could hurt trade talks.

It's unrelated because it destroys their belief system only... They don't want to believe things that are contrary to what they already believe.

Well if you use his full name you can do $hay Weber, but if you just use his last name the best you can do is Wbr which kinda looks stupid.
