Ya know...

It's all just petty bragging rights but it will be nice to bust out some of these facts when the inevitable "It took 41 years" and "You only have 1 Cup" taunts come to surface (and we all know they eventually will).

This playoff run has basically validated the Kings entire existance in my mind. These are records that might not EVER be broken or matched. The fact that the Kings won the Stanley Cup still seems like a fantasy for me but these stats make it even harder for me to wrap my head around.

What the hell IS the record for goal differential? That's not a modern day record? 27 goal differential in 20 games played is obscene.

I went back exactly one year, and found Boston had a 28-goal differential.

As for average, I can check that for you...give me an hour or so.

My goal in starting this thread was to codify all the records in one thread so we can take a look back and really appreciate this incredible playoff run...but good idea, taunting idiots cannot argue with facts!

I didn't have go very far...Detroit in 2008 had an average of 1.41, which is greater than the Kings average of 1.35.

The largest goal differential I found was 49, by the New York Islanders, in 1981 (98 for, 49 against). The Islanders also had a 41-goal differential in 1983, and Edmonton also had the same 41 goal differential in 1985 (the '80s were indeed wild).

The worst runner-up goal differential I could find (since 1917-18), was the Vancouver Canucks, last year, at -11.

But this has to be my all time favorite goal differential, in 1945...

Toronto obviously had to get blown out of some games for that, so I did a little more research and found this gem:

Game 5:

Probably not a record per se, but I think it's pretty damn notable that Alec Martinez had NO GOALS AGAINST for the FINAL TWELVE GAMES. That's all of NJ, all of PHX, and the last game against STL.

I imagine Greener might have the same stat; I wasn't looking.

Nah, he was on the ice for some PP goals against in the Phoenix and NJ series.

Read on twitter that the Kings were the first championship team to use only 6 defensemen since 1980 (NYI).

Here is that records thread that someone asked about.

We can add that stat that NHL.com tweeted...I have to find it first.

Sorry, I was wrong. NHL already accounted for Thursday's game, so it stands at 32 tomorrow.

The Kings are now 21-0 in the playoffs (this year + last year) when they score at least 2 goals.

That
is
nuts.

This one carries into this season:

First team to win 5 straight series while starting on the road.

Crazy stats from last years Cup run!

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but of those 31 games, we gave up 3 goals only five times.

Of the five games we given up the most goals... We've won THREE of them

Indeed, the clincher in the WCF last year, Game 4 vs STL (this year) and Game 3 in this round.

The record now stands at 33.

In addition, it was mentioned after the second intermission that Justin Williams became the first player in NHL history to score a goal in his first four game 7s.

Franchise records: first L.A. Kings team in history to make in to the WCF two seasons in a row. First L.A. Kings team in history to win six playoff series in a row.

22-0 in a row in the playoffs when scoring two or more goals in a game.

#StanleyCup Fact: The #LAKvsSJS series was the first in NHL history in which the home team both scored first and won each game.

If some 14-year-old pubescent calls the Kings "lucky," I consider the source.

If some 21-year-old writes here "**** this team. **** the NHL." well then, ...

Consider the sources, guys. Any Neanderthal can have an HF Boards account...which is quite evident on the main boards.
