i know some of you won't consider this metal..but whatever, i consider it prog rock/metal similar to Dream Theater. Anyways, if you love to Dream Theater and bands of the sort, this will blow your mind:

The early Death albums are so sick.

So in an effort to find more metal bands I love since bands like Rhapsody and Dark Moor don't come around very often, I've decided to try to see what side projects members of these bands have been a part of. Olaf Hayer did the vocals for Luca Turilli's three solo albums before Dreamquest and Rhapsody, found he's the singer for a band Magic Kingdom which I'm loving right now.

He didn't do the vocals on that track, he only did the vocals for the newest album (Symphony of War,) but I've been listening to all of their songs the past couple of days.

Yes!! I've been on a crazy industrial kick lately. Don't Blow Your Top was another great album of theirs.

The Metal Archives site may be useful to you here if you haven't already found it. It is very easy to search for what you know and find links to related bands (past and present) either by band members or similar styles. I've found a few bands as a result of it.

As for bands featuring Olaf Hayer, one of my favs of his is Dionysus (no longer together). It's pretty standard power metal and although a couple of the songs are a bit tame, there is some really good material by them. If you like Olaf's vocals, they are well worth a listen IMO.

Such a great song by a great band.

I was just wondering though if anyone has heard the latest Crowbar album "Sever The Wicked Hand" that came out last year? If so, how is it? I've been meaning to check it out but keep forgetting about it.

Mägo De Oz

A spannish folk metal band who has some really kick ass metal that gives of Dark Moor and Rhapsody vibes. Think they were even before both of them too..
You should love some of their songs. They need more recognition.

La Voz Dormida

Que el viento sople a tu favor

La cantata del diablo (Completa)

This is likely one of the best starting 16 for MDF thus far. Venom? Integrity? Midnight? Pentagram? Convulse?! MANILLA ****ING ROAD?!!!!!!

Goddamnit, haha. I was considering skipping it next year to save up money for a new car, but **** it...have to make this one.

I'll second this. When it comes to Death albums, it doesn't get any better than "Scream Bloody Gore", "Leprosy", or "Spiritual Healing" IMO. Those first 3 albums > the rest.

Maiden on Friday was ****ing awesome. I missed Alice Cooper but Maiden made up for it.

Set list was something like this (not the exact order):
Moonchild
Can I Play With Madness
The Prisoner
Afraid to Shoot Strangers
The Trooper
2 Minutes to Midnight
The Evil that Men do
Phantom of the Opera
The Clairvoyant
Fear of the Dark
Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
Running Free
Aces High
Iron Maiden
Number of the Beast
Run to the Hills.

I almost came when they played Seventh Son. One of my fav Maiden tunes

Wish they had an extra 45 minutes so they could've fit in Powerslave, Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Hallowed be thy Name and stuff from Killers
Thanks for the heads up for the set list. I am going to Maiden in Vancouver on the 29th of July. I also really hope they play Rime of the Ancient Mariner. Cant Wait.

I dunno why but I just can't get into anything Death put out after their "Spiritual Healing" album.

I've heard every Death album in their discography oodles of times and I own "The Sound of Perseverance" as well as the first 3 albums of course. But for some reason...I just can't seem to enjoy anything after "Spiritual Healing".

yes sir, that would be my second favorite Death album, and Perennial Quest is the best song in there indeed.

I'm seeing them tonight

Also nothing Death has ever done is even close to 'best metal album ever' material - especially nothing beyond SBG.
