Sure we should give a final chance since he found his scoring touch back

Why is it "one last" chance. What was last year? If he blows again this year, wouldn't his contract indicate he could be given "one last" chance the next season as well?

His effort is fricking pathetic. Love to see him put his heart into the game again, but I don't see any reason to bank on it. In the meantime he's an absolute cancer on the team. Boo birds are coming for him if the Habs keep him on the roster next year, I suspect.

If there is a next year, that is.

gomez aced eagleglen's par-3 no. 6 while playing in the scotty gomez foundation celebrity golf tournament.

His reward, courtesy of continental motors, is a new acura md x worth $50,000, according to continental motors owner marten martensen.

"the guy wins a car at his own tournament. Can you believe it?" martensen said.

A center for the montreal canadiens, gomez is heading into the sixth year of a seven-year $51.5 million contract.

Give him a car everytime he scores a goal then...

You have to love that they mention his salary in the last sentence of that article....

Makes 50 million dollars

Asks others to help raise money for it.

He's a good person and I'm sure he donated a mill... hopefully.

Opening this proposal, I would had never tough that 2 weeks later, it would still be a discussion.
Thinking about it, Gomez is our 7+ million dollar 4th line center. If Gomez can adjust to the LW, could he make the difference?
I was thinking that Plekanec needed a play making LW, well perhaps Gomez can be it. If Gomez can adjust to the LW, he could make the difference.

SG-TP-BG look like a good combination?
PS;I had written a more descriptive post but something happen and I just don't feel like writhing all of it all over again.

He actually does a lot of charity stuff. I'm sure he's giving away the car too. I read it a few years ago he's very involved in Alaskan charity work.

Why does he not just stay in Alaska forever.
NO MORE CHANCES.
he is finished as a hockey player, no team will hire him. No team will trade for him because of his contract. The worst contract in the NHL.
His reputation is in tatters. He is just riding out his contract to get paid and that's it. I don't believe anything Gomez says. He is just trying to deflect any blame and he sure good at smiling to the cameras.
Can you imagine if MT does what the last coach did and play Gomez on the first two lines for 60 games for another 2-3 goals. NO, MB wants a new team with character and a sense of TEAM. Gomez would destroy everything MB wants.
Lets see what the new CBA brings, then take steps after that.

Not sure if you followed the NHL these past years, but Gomez is far from having the worse contract st this point. There's so many of them out there, even some to superstars.

Gomez has:

- character
- is a good team guy
- accountable
- has a guaranteed contract

And you wrongfully vilified him for all four of the above.

Bernard Brisset relating that Gomez thinks he's going to end up in the minors next season. Let's hope it's true.

I think if he doesn't mesh with Therrien he will be down in the minors

I'm sorry, Gomez is NOT far from having the worst contract. In fact, he's very close to it, if not "technically" the worst.

edit: I mean, 21 goals, ~100 points in ~200 games (with the Habs) would be fairly pathetic for a $7 million defenseman, let alone a centre - and THEN there's the lack of effort, intensity, and commitment to actually do what it takes to reverse the 3 year trend he has been on since joining Montreal. Think about it... right now Nokelainen has to be the favourite for the last centre spot instead of Gomez. Nokelainen.

maybe but I'd think Gomez will at least be given a chance (for good or bad) with new management. granted Bergevin doesn't find a trade

I agree. I don't think there are any available trade options for Gomez given that Bergevin won't overpay to get rid of a player. The teams near below the cap floor can use their money way more smartly than Gomez IMO.

So let me get this straight: you spew out a bunch of baseless lies about Gomez then proceed to make an irrelevant comment directed at me in order to deflect the fact you spewed said baseless lies.

Typical.

if there is a lockout this year,

would we still be stuck with gomez for 2 more years afterwards or it becomes 1 year?

I know it's a noob question...
