Not sure if this is worthy of its own topic or not (mod can feel free to put this in the appropriate thread if warranted) but I was watching some of this dude's highlights and... holy wow.
Imagine a more athletic version of Alex Pietrangelo, and on steroids too. I don't claim to have a keen eye for prospects but once in a while, some come along that you're 99% sure are going to turn into megastars. I can't even imagine what the Canucks would have to give up to have a shot at him (would he be projected 1st or 2nd, after MacKinnon?) and what teams to anticipate trading assets to in order to obtain such a pick (Islanders, Blue Jackets?).
I've never seen a defenseman move and play like the way he does and I really hope a team like Edmonton doesn't tank again to acquire a guy like him. I was even more surprised to find out he's the son of former NBA player Popeye Jones. Wow, talk about completely unexpected. Guess it just goes to show you that talent can come from the most unlikely of places.
To start getting bottom dwellers interested in a potential trade for the pick, I'm assuming Kesler and a signed Edler have to be in play along with prospects.
I know we hate them but I think Boston was better off trading someone like Kessel to acquire Seguin (which of course was lucky in of itself) but my point is it's been done in the past. Here's to hoping Jones doesn't end up playing for a division rival next season.
I guess one reason (however minute) this is a thread is because it at least attempts to inject some other form of discussion into the board than the usual doom and gloom diatribes, heated but trite Luongo exchanges and the constant ridicule for all things Mason Raymond.
If we want him so badly... easier solution, just tank the season, have players pretend they were injury, etc. Or just switch names with the Oilers and we'll have the 1st overall pick. Actually easier solution... just switch the team you support to the Oilers, they have a TON of 1st overall pick/prospects.
