Probably the case. So now their defense is going to be horrible. Their offense is very mediocre, and they can forget about a number one ranked PP. It's going to be a long year in Nashville.
Not to mention they didn't have a 1st round pick this year because they dealt it for Gaustad as a rental. Don't teams realize those deals NEVER work? lol
Forbes' lists aren't exactly 100% accurate, they don't have access to all the financial data.
I'm pretty sure they also have a billionaire part owner in there someplace
we work with what we're given. the numbers there can't possibly be that far off... basically comes down to how much the owner(s) is willing to spend out of pocket.
Nashville will need to spend to whatever the floor is in the next CBA. Nashville thought it would have been feasible to keep both Suter and Weber. At least, they will get some compensation for Weber. They had Suter for 7 years and he decided to leave. Anaheim will face the same problem with Getzaf and Perry next July assuming the rules remain the same. They can't wait until next spring to figure out this stuff.

yeah, i think the real prizes may come out of Anaheim. they need to lock up Getzlaf and Perry ASAP.
RB can they sign them right now? whens the earliest a team can sign a soon to be UFA?
I was bored today at work so I went through the rest of the UFA's available. Outside of Doan, who I would love, what about these (2) guys as depth?
Jason Arnott - 34 points in St. Louis last year. Teams have raved about his leadership both on the ice and off. He is a consummate professional and would add another big body to the bottom-6 @ 6'5. Very good on face-offs ad he has a ton of playoff experience. At his age he may not play all 82 games, but he is definitely a solid depth move and the Rangers have plenty of cap space available.
Carlo Colaiacovo - 19 point in 64 games last year with St. Louis. You can pretty much pencil him in to miss about 20 games a year but is that such a bad thing with Erixon, Parlett and McIlrath down in the minors looking to get some experience this season? He averaged 19 minutes in St. Louis and he is a fluid skater. Pair him with one of the Rangers defensive d-men and I think he could provide more than adequate depth.
Nash-Richards-Callahan <---- because I believe the Rangers will eventually get Nash this off-season
Kreider-Stepan-Hagelin
Boyle-Arnott-Pyatt
Rupp-Halpern-Asham
Haley

Sather did draft Arnott but also didnt Sather bash Arnott when he was dealt to the Devils for Guerin... and on Carlo i can see it now...out 5 months after blocking his first shot as a Ranger...no thanks..he is very injury prone....
Nashville may end up losing more money by NOT signing Weber than signing him. the team is going to lose their #1 offensive player in the playoffs in Radulov, their #2 defenseman Suter, and their #1 defenseman and captain in Weber? Might as well fold up the franchise and move it. they'll go from losing 7 mil a year to losing 20 mil a year.
last year weber+suter costed them 11mil. in terms of real salary its a big bump for several years, but after that Weber will be pretty much free. can they use that time to build a strong team from within and once hes being paid less use that money to supplement a strong core? its certainly possible. they have no other players to pay big going forward.

they can be signed after july 1st prior to becoming a ufa...thats why the pens had to wait till july 1st to announce the crosby deal. a number of 2013 free agents have signed extensions already
After spending two weeks gauging interest and fielding offers, Shane Doan is making his first official visit of free agency Friday, and he is doing it in New York.
Doan, the 35-year-old free agent, who has spent his entire career with the Winnipeg/Phoenix organization, is in New York and meeting with the Rangers brass to discuss a future on Broadway.
