Alexei Yashin has an NHL offer on the table

https://twitter.com/AlexandrZaytsev/...54649890582528
Quote:
Yashin's agent to Sovsport: Alexei has a contract offer from an NHL club. Yashin feels like he's got a few more years in him to play hockey.
This has been retweeted by Elliotte Friedman who's as reliable as they come.

Yashin has not played in the NHL since 2007 and is still being paid by the Islanders up until 2015.

Thoughts?

Who could want his services? I don't know why, but I think it'll be Montreal or NYI. No idea why I think it could be Montreal though.

It's interesting to read there is an NHL team willing to give a soon to be 39 year old (come November) player a contract to play on their team. Yashin is no Jagr, but it's interesting to see a team willing to take a flyer on him.

Since Yashin is a center and Edmonton could use a mentor for Yakupov, I wonder if this is the team that made an offer to Yashin. It will be interesting to see if Yashin accepts the offer and is willing to come back for one more try at the NHL.

yashin is big, can win faceoffs, and can probably do decently as a pp specialist.

not sure if he can still skate in this league though.

Just want a better contract in KHL. Even in Russia not many teams want to sign him

So who will Yashin be bumping down on the Edm depth chart?

Hopkins? (Lol)
Gagner? (Freshly signed)
Horcoff? (3 more years left)
Belanger? (2 more years left)

They should just make a new team of guys who retire and then try comebacks (some have actually been successful):

Forwards: Jagr, Fleury, Modano (rumoured)
Defense: Chelios (I think I heard a few years ago that he wanted to try)
Goalie: Hasek

Pretty sure Yashin's agent claims he's got an NHL offer on the table every single summer. I think it's his brilliant idea of trying to drum up interest. It's a tired routine.

Yeah, seriously. Not every older European player can be a mentor to a younger European player.

So long as the Leafs don't have to play them.

Seriously, you do not want Alexei Yashin to mentor a young player. That's like having Patrick Kane head an AA group.

I could definitely see Calgary being the team. As long as it's not my team, I'm good.

Well it's sure as hell not the Senators... even though he said in the past he wanted to play for us again.. I can see him go to any Centre needy team.
