This just in: Yashin offer found out to be a drunk prank call made by Mike Milbury after a night on the town with Barry Melrose and Don Cherry.

Not. What suggests that?

1. Calgary is looking for a top six center. Yashin is not a top six center.
2. We are looking for mid aged players (22-27) to fill out the roster. Yashin does not fit that criteria whatsoever.
3. We already signed Cervenka, who has had far more success in the same league the past two seasons and is twelve years younger.

Columbus, Islanders, Calgary, Edmonton... one of those, I'd bet.

The guy who has a rule named after him, where you can toll a contract for a year if a guy holds out while he has a year remaining on his deal. The Alexei Yashin rule. Not used often: Preds with Radulov this season; Boston could use it on Timmy T, but probably won't.

Oilers want this guy far away from their young stars.
Islanders tolled Nabokov and it turned out well for them.

Is Yashin really the mentor you want to bring in to influence your young, talented Russian player?

Edit: Guess I'm late to the party.

Won't be any team. Yashin isn't the player he was 5 years ago. Third or fourth line center and some power play minutes maybe and that's all he's capable for.

Can you use the same logic base to explain Wideman?

Actually, I could see Snow throwing an offer his way trying to get out of the buyout. 1 year 2 mil? Seeing that NYI will have a Dipietro buyout on the books soon.

They still have to pay DiPietro 4.5 mill/year until 2021, lol the next 9 seasons
