I love how we lose one player (a top player admittedly) and so many fans have us plummeting to a 13-15th place finish in the East. When will people ever learn to respect this franchise?

I love how Zach was an absolute choke artist in the shootout for the better part of later in the year, and scores on Marty like it's nothing!

He was stopped every time but twice after missing the late game penalty shot against Montreal where he had a chance to tie it. He didn't score again in the shootout for like 3 months!

What if it's one of the 40+ games Janssen is scratched?

I think Henrique will takes Parise's place in the shootout lineup.

Who is the second to last shooter that Marty faces? You can hear Marty say "uh oh, uh oh." And then he robs him.

The one where he stops, drops and rolls?

That's Larsson. Poor kid.

I wonder if Marty taunted Ovi like that on this one too. Carbon copy.

Even funnier is the fact that we scored 102 points missing Zajac virtually all of last season anyway. If we stay healthy, we'll be competitive for a playoff spot at the very worst. Still we could use some additional forward depth.

I don't think we're in bad shape though, we've probably regressed a little bit as it stands, and a few other teams below us have improved slightly; but if we can acquire another top 6 forward i think we're locks for the playoffs pretty much.

We lost Poni boy too, but still, I think we'll be in the playoffs next year.

We may have lost Sykora too. I would like him back UNLESS we can find a better solution like Semin or pretty much any decent forward who could put up 40 points.

Sykora either wants way too much money or Lou is considering bringing him back if all else fails in his other plans. I'm still surprised the Isles or a cap floor team hasn't offered him something ridiculous like one year for $2-$3 million, but maybe they did and he just wants to make sure the Devils close the door before he moves on.

I expect the Devils to be a playoff team again next season. I'd be very surprised if we slipped out.

Great Marty interview at the Golf Charity

http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/228251...66925#48266925

says ZP would have been the face of franchise just like Stevens (besides him of course) if he stayed for the Devils.

Hardest hand shake line for him - Colorado. completely agree. Devils messed that up big time that year.

Especially considering it was part of a golf thing, one of the more intelligent hockey interviews I've seen in quite some time.

It was the hardest because it was the one and ONLY time that Marty faced Roy in such a High-pressure situation(SCF). And he lost.

How about the 2 horrendous unscreened(Pretty sure the 2nd was, the 1st definitely was) shots from the blue line Marty gave up in game 6 of the 01 Finals? That's why I'm saying the criticism of his play this year was overblown. He had a miserable time in those playoffs.

If the Devils had showed up to play that game they would have won the Cup. They didn't show up(Just like they didn't in game 1) and they went back to Colorado, and weren't able to pull out a win there. That was playing with fire.

Ray Bourque was one them.

Adam Foote was the other. Statistically that was one of Marty's worst playoffs with some of the recent clunkers we were gone, and out in the first round like in 08, and 10 being worse. He was one win from the Cup too. Much better team in front of him too. I remember being disgusted with Marty a lot that playoff year. He by no means cost us the Cup though especially since we couldn't score one frickin goal in a couple of those games. Patrick Roy's misplay which cost Colorado the game in game 4 on the Gomez goal I believe it was looked like it would be the downfall for them. The Devils coming home with a chance to clinch a championship, and never even getting on the plane coming back from Denver was our downfall.
