Syomin's Agent told the media, that his client still prefers the nhl, and now watching the offers of some nhl teams. he told also that the offer of CSKA moscow has not the same conditions like the press released it. it seems that he will play in the NHL next year.
now, There's no doubt about it.
It'd be nice to know what teams he's thinking over, what offers were out there, if there are some that are longer than 1-2 years.
First off, Jim Rutherford's one of the smartest GMs at playing mind games through the media (I remember in 2011, Rutherford made a statement to the media that he wasn't going to be signing Pitkanen and Jokinen (I think it was those two) and that they would both be free agents, then less then a week later he signed both of them before they hit the market), so you should always take his public comments with a grain of salt. That said...
per Chip Alexander's twitter
Rutherford says Canes still looking to add a top-6 forward. Says still interested in one-year deal with Semin.
Rutherford has had several discussions in past week with Semin's agent.
He also says that Canes are likely out on Doan
Rutherford says based on what some teams have offered Doan, unlikely Canes will sign him.
And that Carolina's interested in a tough guy
Rutherford also says wants to add a "tough guy" for fourth line.
If I was Semin I'd probably take the offer. He'd get lots of Top 6 ice-time and the chance to show up the Capitals for not re-signing him 6 times a year. He could then parlay that into a better offer next summer, possibly back with Washington!
