Andronov is a living proof that not all talented Russians who stay at home develops as expected and turns into highly skilled impact guys.
I don't think many people had any high expectations for Andronov. He was always marginally talented, never expected to be the next.. anybody.
I think the focus is on very talented and promising kids at some point, like Kabanov, Kuchin, Kugryshev, Filatov, Grachev.. the ones that never really panned out, but were very very promising while in Russia. Andronov was never considered to be in that group.
If the NHL goes on strike/lockout, would the KHL lift its restriction on foreign players?
I don't know. One the one hand, ,flooding the league with western NHL stars would improve the quality of the KHL but on the other hand it would cause chaos in the league. It would also alienate a lot of domestic players and the Europeans who are already there. I would maybe expand it to 8 foreigners from 5 at the most with the stipulation that teams can't drop their existing 5 and get all new 8 ones. Only pick up 3 more.
Any one want to take a guess where our Russian KHL starts would wind up in case of a strike? I think Ovechkin goes back to Dynamo. Would Malkin go back to Metallurg?

A partial lift on foreigner players will surely get the KHL better until the work stoppage in the NHL ends. And the Western NHLers are likely to be spread among Swedish, Finnish, Swiss, German and, to a lesser extent, Czech and Slovak leagues and, for the fringe North American NHLers, stay home and play in the AHL or the ECHL. So 3 new NHLers per KHL team doesn't seem off to my eyes.
I think you mean Magnitka here since I don't think Malkin would go play in Novokuznetsk unless his Magnitogorsk bridge is burned.
Even if lock-out really begins it doesn't mean that everyone will join KHL club the very next day. It will take a while before players even start considering their options for the season.
As a KHL fan i want to say, that KHL don't need lockout in NHL.
There are some reasons:
1. Difference between rich and poor clubs will be higher, than now. Because Vityaz, for example, cannot sign any of NHL stars. Even on a lockout period.
2. Young players will be sent to the VHL or MHL, because some NHL players will take their places in club rosters.
3. And most important reason: 2012-2013 KHL season will be absolutely meaningless. What interest to watch how NHL stars are playing for the clubs, that means nothing for them?
This is strange. Lokomotive already has 6 legioners, Flood will be 7.
Lokomotiv can sign 6 foreigners, so one more than others (due to tragedy last year). Foreigners who signed multi-year contract last summer (or earlier) are not considered as foreigners anymore. Lets look... Flood, Sanford, Lepisto, Hagman are new in KHL, so for sure foreigners. Redlihs and Kronwall played KHL before, it is important to know if they sign with Loko new deal this summer (would be foreigners) or not. Do Korobov/Kalyuzhny have russian passport? If not, they could be another foreigners.

Not exactly. Only foreigners, who has russian passport. Like Kalyuzhny or Kolesnik (they have it). Korobov doesn't have russian passport.
But there are another new rule: foreigner, who has russian passport and played in KHL more, than two years - is not a legioner. Korobov played just two years, and if he will receive russian passport - he will not be a foreigner anymore. Maybe. I'm not sure for this.
Yes, it appears, that it is true. Korobov goes to the NHL.
Quote from Lokomotiv official fan site:
Quote:
Recently met with the Lokomotiv press attaché Vladimir Malkov. He said me, that Korobov likely wouldn't play for Lokomotiv, because he want to try his hand in the NHL.
matushkin gave the second chance to corso, so daniel will stay in minsk, despite it has been announced earlier that he'll be released
so it means some more depth in offense
According to Iltalehti, neither Matikainen nor Nurminen have an actual contract with Omsk, they were merely getting a look at the club. What a giant clusterfrak this is turning into.
