If I'm the Caps, I definitely consider offer-sheeting Kane. Either force a division rival's hand by making their star player sign at a less than ideal price, or get a superb young power-forward to add to their Top 6. Win-win.

I could see Burke sending an offer sheet Kane's way.

Yeah, unless it's over like 8m, the Jets will match anything...

If Nashville does it can they give up the Flyers 4 first rounders? Because then it's basically a Weber for Kane swap. Done and done.

No, it has to be your teams picks.

No, they have to be your own draft picks.

For the love of humanity
Why do you hold so much faith in Eklund?
He doesnt know squat

This means no offer sheet is coming for Kane

A 26 million signing bonus would put pressure on the ownership. Even if the team can carry the cap hit, the problem is a one year payment of that amount. That is, it is about cash flow.

Eklund is such a transparent fraud it's unbelievable. He clearly had no clue about the Weber offer sheet so now he's over-compensating by playing the "offer sheet" card now. This guy is something else.

This actually means that Kane is very close to re-signing with the Jets.

I may be mistaken, but since Kane is coming off an ELC and this being his second contract, I don't believe he can sign an offer sheet.

But as I say, I may be mistaken.

EDIT: I can't find anything supporting this. Either way, Jets match unless it's ridiculous. I can see them matching up to 6m. Things get hairy at around 7 though.

Yeah, but wouldn't the team have to forfeit 2 firsts and a second to the Winnipeg, like for Kessel?

To be fair, every team said they would match everything.

And I think Kane MIGHT be the best young power forward in the game. He has a ton of potential. Still he hasn't shown the consistancy to warrant a team going out on a limb with a huge offersheet.
Not gonna turn this thread into a debate but Benn is a better young power forward at this point. Might change going forward, but I don't think so.

Doubt he signs it if there even is one.

He belongs in Winnipeg. I hope they get it done, they deserve to have a good franchise after all those years, and he will be an integral part of it.

Jesus, he said that he might be, not that he is. Are you really this defensive that whenever the reputation of one of your team's players is threatened, you feel the need to rush to help and make sure everything is right with the universe?

Reading between the lines, I will suggest that there is actually not an offersheet headed to Evander Kane. Stupid Eklund.

Considering the reports earlier this week (before the Weber news) about Kane and the Jets being in negotiations for an extension, it seems very unlikely he signs an offer sheet with another team while in the middle of talks with Winnipeg.

The more likely target, if there is one, would be O'Reilly in Colorado IMO. From recent reports by the Denver beat writer, the Avs haven't started any formal negotiations with O'Reilly - which would seem a better context for a player to sign an offer sheet if he thinks his current team isn't interested enough....

At this point, sourcing Eklund is just an excuse to generate discussion about rumour. The guy gets trashed every single time he is cited so might as well focus on the content of the thread;

Looking in toy Eklund crystal ball next weeks roumor will read

Nashville extra daft picks?
Crosby?

After Nashville didnt match the weber offer sheet they have more draft picks than they know what to do with.
Now Weber is in phily Pittsburg is worried about there well being of the captain.

So my sorce tells me Pittsburg is tring to trade Crosby to Nashville for 4 first round picks.
The belive doing this gives them a shot at Mckinnon and Ho-Sang in the next two drafts.

Off to be with my cat Fufoo and a bowl of rocky road ice cream

more to come?

How that for an eklund roumor lol
