Gagner signs one year deal prior to arbotration. One year 3.2 million.

Makes Raymond's deal downright reasonable.

Kulemin resigned for 2.8/year. Not a bad deal at all for the Leafs.

David Poile should just lose his **** and go offer sheet crazy.

All of the Wild and every Flyers RFA not named Jakub Voracek at $1 110 249, then PK Subban or John Carlson at $6.5m, then the other, then Evander Kane, then Voracek.

Then next year either Clutterbuck or Simmonds at ~$3.5m (or whatever a 2nd round pick gets you), all the Wild and Flyers role players at ~$1.5m. Go big at the max salary you can get without giving up multiple 1sts on Seguin, Hall, Lucic, Pietrangelo, Bogosian, OEL..

With all that cap space and an extra first round pick every year he might be able to snag enough talent to stay competitive, make life difficult for the Wild and Flyers and make enough of a mess that perhaps the offer sheet falls by the wayside. Hell by the time his four years of Flyers picks are up everyone in the league would be terrified to offer sheet one of his players.

the limit on this strategy is that you need to use your own team's picks for the compensation. it's a good use of team picks if poile lets weber walk because he'll have lots of other picks but i would bet that nashville picks would be a lot higher than flyer picks and you're giving them to the flyers.

so in short, use offer sheets selectively and wisely if you're going to go that route.

It refers to an era dominated by defensive-minded hockey where obstruction (holding, hooking, etc.) became more prevalent, leading to a significant drop in offensive output. It's commonly associated with the neutral-zone trap popularized by Jacques Lemaire and the New Jersey Devils en route to their first Stanley Cup in 1995, though a noticeable dip in offensive production wasn't recorded until 1997.

This all ended with the lockout.

Not really, as Gagner is a mile better than Raymond and his potential is 10 miles higher.

Untrue, IMO. Although the hockey is a bit more exciting.

I agree. Pre-injury Raymond was relatively comprable to Gagner, although I think Gagner is younger. Post-injury Raymond is a completely different story.

Jets will match anything for both Kane and Bogosian. And it's not like it'll screw them for years because it won't.

Didn't know where to post this, and didn't want to make a new thread, but, I'm watching the full game of Game 6 of the SCF in 1994 on youtube, and is it just me, or does the crowd seem so much better back in those days? Always loud, cheered after like everything etc, while I don't remember game 7 of the SCF against Boston being like that. I could be wrong though.

Like the crowd is so into the game, it's nice to see/hear for a change.

Game 7's crowd felt really nervous, and for good reason. Then after Boston scored those two goals the acceptance started to sink in.

I guess you're right, but as this game progresses (1994 Game 6), the crowd is getting better and better and more into the game.

I never thought it was possible.
