Would rather not see it happen and I don't want to see Stan waste a remaining contract slot on him with so much offseason left.

There's basically nothing left at this point. Yashin, I mean, he could probably put up about 40 points as 2nd line C. This would be my plan H but it's still a plan and has no downside. Waive his ass if you need a roster spot for someone better later on in the season.

I was talking about the 50 contract limit. I think they're at 48. I don't think that would change next CBA.

Yashin hasn't been in the NHL for 1/2 a decade and he's 38 with almost no meaningful NHL playoff experience and even less personal or team success in those NHL postseasons. His attitude is a big question too. He would probably ask for a big contract too after seeing what some of the other older vets signed for. I would rather see a gamble on the kids. I don't think they'll really look into him anyway.

can you say no? I'd rather have a prospect do it and get some time in the majors.

A team that's problem is effort level? Add Yashin. Brilliant.

No thanks, another run of the mill FA. Soft, and not a difference maker.
Pass.

If this was 2000 ,, Sure

Yashin + Zhamnov as 1-2 punch down middle = Happy BWC

It is 2012

Yashin is washed up fading star with too much issues with regard to his work ethic in his final years in NHL to bring in

If you want to sign an old center for one year try Arnott.

38 years old, only 20 pts in the KHL last year. Not sure he is worth it ot sign. Maybe offer him a camp try out.
