Now Weber is in phily Pittsburg is worried about thete well being of the captain.

So my sorce tells me Pittsburg is trong to trade Crosby to Nashville for 4 first round picks.
The belive doing this gives them a shot at Mckinnon and Ho-Sang in the next two drafts.

Off to be with my cat Fufoo and a bowl of rocky road ice cream

more to come?

How that for an eklund roumor lol
Yawn 2/10

But Kane won't need to worry about paying for dinner in Buffalo if Terry sends him an offer sheet.

After seeing the offersheet for Weber, Eklund has only just remembered that they exist.

Expect a new level to rediculous rumours this summer now.

If Philly gets Weber...can they even offer sheet any other high calibre players? They'll already be without 1st round picks for the next 4 years. Not fair for the Jets to get compensation starting in 2017...

The notion that "an offer sheet may be coming" is a fantastic rumor. There's just so many explanation for nothing happening eventually. First of, it's not a certainty that it is coming, it may just be. And even if it actually did, if he wasn't going to sign it (as I assume is still the case with most offer sheets), we'd never hear about it and one could never say for sure it wasn't there. It's your typical filler rumor.

What kind of offer could possibly make sense to the offering team, but then somehow simultaneously not make sense for the Jets?

Id be fine with the Canucks sending him a long term offer averaging around 6, super front loaded really long term with all the cap circumvention bells and whistles that teams can currently get away with. Jets still likely match, but Kane is just exactly what the Canucks 2nd Line needs.

Something along the lines of a 15 year 91 million deal (taking him to age 36)

Years 1-4 12 Million (With all the Weber-esque signing bonuses to front load it)
Years 5-10 5.5 Million
Years 11-15 2 Million

So 15 year deal. Cap Hit 6.07. I would do that in a heartbeat. But yea Winnipeg probably matches.

I am pretty sure that Winnipeg can match the 3 mil/year deal that the nucks would throw out there....unless you guys plan on cleaning up some cap space on the hope and prayers that Winnipeg won't match a larger offer.

*Pro Tip* We will match any offer.

But as I say, I may be mistaken.

EDIT: I can't find anything supporting this. Either way, Jets match unless it's ridiculous. I can see them matching up to 6m. Things get hairy at around 7 though.
If a team wanted to they could sign him to an offer sheet and it won't matter if he's coming off his entry level contract. Last summer there was talk what if a team signed Steven Stamkos to an offer sheet and he was just coming off his entry level contract. So there you go and the example to back it up.

Burke would do the same thing he did for kessel. Say he was going to send a offer sheet if they couldn't come up with a trade.

They can't give an offer sheet that requires compensation they don't have. And it has to be their picks too, they can't go trade for 4 1st rounders and then offer one.

No it isn't. The only reason Weber got one is because Philly felt Nashville would pass from a financial standpoint. If anyone offer sheets Kane to a high enough contract that scares off Winnipeg it will only hrt their team ($8 million + for 13 years).
