good. great in hershey for us, but i didn't want to risk him coming back up and sucking in a roster spot again... especially not for the whole playoffs.

Such a solid AHLer... Such little speed and agility for the NHL.

The Marlies made it to the Calder Cup finals this past season.....I doubt Aucoin was the missing piece.

I don't really understand this signing.

A bunch of players from last-year are probably coming up full-time. Kadri, Frattin, D'Amigo, Holzer, Gardiner are all possible examples.

Just the Leafs using some of their money creatively. With the cap we can't spend unlimited amounts of money, but we can get elite players on our AHL team to help mentor all of our prospects and hopefully keep them driving for Calder Cups.

More money for MLSE. Ricoh was near, to completely sold out every home game. Which I'm sure brought them a ton of cash. They're looking to repeat that and who better than one of the best in the ahl

It's all about the calder cup run again. Not to mention we are adding a lot of prospects in the AHL so maybe it's also for the veteran presence.

Can go into decent point streaks even in the NHL. Not a bad call-up option to have.

Could be 3-5 roster spots on the Marlies opened up due to promotions, Aucoin will just replace one of them. Also, has NHL experience if need be.

Zigomanis is currently a UFA, so it could be an insurance plan if he doesn't sign. Mueller up and left for Europe too so that offensive hole (although, a supporting player) needed to be filled.

Plus, the potential for Kadri and Frattin (although didn't play with the Marlies all season) to make the Leafs. Aucoin should give them a nice shot in the arm of offense.

This one is easy... Aucoin puts up big points in the AHL every year, now they can play him with their young prospects, help pad their stats too with the offense he brings, then we can have the Leafs fans tell us how these said prospects are better then other teams prospects because their stats indicate so... ie Bernier vs Reimer....

On another note, Aucoin is not going to hurt as he distributes the puck well and will give scoring prospects with the Marlies a good chance to start burying some pucks.

I like it. Attempting to maintain a competetive winning atmosphere where the prospects develop seems quite logical.

So this is kinda like a fringe NHL player trade, right?

Leafs get: Keith Aucoin

Caps get: Joey Crabb
