That'd be great for us, I'm expecting just a tad over 1.5M. Doesn't matter though, we'll be fine either way.

This'll probably be his last year with the Stars as well.

Great deal for the Stars.

We need a guy like Fistric on the Pens. What would it take Dallas?

How much would we have to add for one of those D prospects?

Not saying that's the only deal to be made, but if all it'd take is a 2nd and a decent prospect, we should definitely shoot.

He's a solid bottom pairing defender.

This is a guy who over the last two years couldn't consistently earn a roster spot over the likes of Adam Pardy and Jeff Woywitka. I guess I can't complain too much because every team needs scrubs to fill out their depth chart, but Fistric is pretty worthless.

Wrong... He is actually a pretty decent defenseman. Has no offensive upside whatsoever, though. I'm not sure why Fistric has been a healthy scratch so many times with both Gulutzan and Crawford. When he's played he's usually quite better than Pardy and Woywitka.

Describe how he is a pretty decent defenseman please. He hits and does nothing else.

He clears the crease well and he does time his hits well. Rarely seems to be out of position when he goes to throw one, unless he misses.

He's a good #6 defenseman. But with our prospect pool, we could be looking at 6 top 4 defensemen (Dillon, Daley, Goligoski, Oleksiak, Nemeth, Larsen) all on the team by the start of 2013-2014, and with Rome and Jo. Benn sticking around, he simply won't have a spot anymore.

What would it cost in a trade with Montreal for Fistric?

He's a good depth guy for Dallas but I think people overlook his other issues because of his hitting. I think its more a product of Dallas just not having any physical D-man. Its a D squad of small players Goligoski, Daley, Robidais, Larsen.

I won't use the notion of getting out of position to throw a hit because that's what every player does when they go for a hit. He does though get flat footed on the blue zone that leads to a few break aways, he can't get the puck out of the D zone all that great. His one asset is that he is Dallas most physical D-man, which with players like Dillon, Oleksiak, Nemeth his one decent asset will be replaced by more then likely much better players.

He couldn't beat out guys like Pardy and Woywitka because while those guys arn't that great either they could move the puck much better then Fistric and at least they had some offensive abilities. Don't mean to be down on the guy but he is what he is a depth defenseman who's okay but not really a player I'd want consistently in the lineup.

You couldn't be more wrong about Pardy and Woywitka. They are bad all around. Pardy might have been OK in Calgary, but he was press box worthy in Dallas. If he plays this year like he did last year, I don't see him playing much. Fistric did beat Pardy out in a big way last year. I'd almost argue Pardy is Joe's worst signing/move since being GM. No question Fistric is a depth guy but his hitting and crease clearing are quite extraordinary.

Right, he's a decent defenseman, as long as you ignore his skating, positioning, puckhandling, passing, and defending.

He'd be just about worthless to you as you already have Emelin, a better and younger player with a similar skill set.
