WE have got to be kidding! WE have a shot at a proven all-star dman in his prime for a promising young c.
WE have 2 other young c in Giroux and B.Schenn.
WE would like to replace Pronger. Timonen is near the end.
WE can live with Couturier playing in Nashville.

No WE can't.
Why risk so much for Weber instead of sitting tight.
I don't even want to give up voracek, but I'd consider it.
I think webers 11 year payout will be 95 million. Are you going to argue that this contract in no way is made to circumvent the salary cap? If so, I want to hear it.
If weber's 11 year payout is 95m, that would make his last 3 years an average of 5m per.. Sounds a lot like circumvention to me
couturier + meszaros + 2013 1st round pick and ill be okay. if we lose weber, and dont get couturier... then fire poile.
You can do a lot better than that from Philadelphia. B Schenn, Couturier, Meszaros + 2 1st rounders is more the equal package for a player like Weber. Don't let these Philadelphia fans make you believe that Weber doesn't have that kind of worth because he does. Good Luck!!!

oh definitely.
but they have leverage at this point because of poile's screw up.
Relax. Nowhere yet. Just analyzing all that been said by both parties, espesially DP comment on that matter...
We are in receipt of the offer sheet signed between the Philadelphia Flyers and Shea Weber. Under the rules pertaining to an offer sheet, the Predators have one week to decide whether to match or accept the compensation. We have stated previously that, should a team enter into an offer sheet with Shea, our intention would be to match and retain Shea.
“Our ownership has provided us with the necessary resources to build a Stanley Cup-winning team. Due to the complexity of the offer sheet, we will take the appropriate time to review and evaluate it and all of its ramifications in order to make the best decision for the Predators in both the short and long-term.
“We do not anticipate any further comments on this situation until we make our decision within the next seven days.
Nashville hold all the cards because if they match they'll have some bonus pain now but Weber's value will skyrocket after this coming season and market will be wide open with many of the 29 teams involved and the Predators can get a proper return for their captain instead of the dollar store variety Holmgren is trying to pull on you.
I cant see how Shea's value will improve?
He's already a first team all-star. On a low budget team.
Look at the terms of the offer sheet after some 1st year bonus pain and that will give you the answer. Every team would take that kind of deal with Weber long-term.
I'm coming into the discussion when it's days old, so sorry if this question has been asked already...I read that part of the reason Kovalchuk's first NJ contract, was ruled invalid, was because he would have made 93 percent of his money over the first 58 percent of the contract.

He does but Holmgren is the advantageous position no doubt about it. At this point I would be estatic with Schenn bros or Couts+
is it troubling that you guys haven't signed weber yet?
Nope.

Just comparing first 11 years and it's 107 not 95 my mistake. What about 25% in first year of contract...37% in first 2 years....explain how that's NOT cap circumvention...
It's hilarious to see the Flyers fans coming here in peace and telling the Predators fans how they should feel.
While some Philly fans def have chapped my butt with their arrogance on the whole they are still nowhere as bad as Vancouver fans. If Van had signed Weber to this offer sheet I simply would not have been able to come to HF as my blood pressure would be out of this world.
