I'm 99% sure the bonus cushion will exist in the next CBA should it be similar to the current one.

That said, I don't think the salary cap is going to be high enough to ice that lineup. One player will have to go probably, but that's still a ridiculous lineup.

Best case scenario is we get to that lineup and the NHL and NHLPA decide it's better to just renew the current CBA for a year while they continue discussions through the season.

7.1 million cap hit is not much seven years from now.

So:

To Preds:
Mez + player/propect

To Flyers:
2014 1st

Call it a day.
This would be the absolute ideal scenario.

Perfect situation. I don't see why we HAVE to trade. If I'm homer I'm thinking "trade is too steep. Wht are the odds I draft a franchise defenseman in 4 years. Weber is in his prime. Can we afford 7.8 over 14? Yeah? Let's just offer sheet him. He signs he signs. They match they match. At least he stays there a year"

I submit sheet. It's accepted.

"awesome. They dont match I give up 4 1sts. Better than half my roster. Let's see what happens"

Nashville calls "we promise not to match if you trade for your picks back"

Me"look. Match or don't. I win either way"

The cards are heavily in his favor. It's very realistic we could see a Minnesota rd 2. Doan waits on weber. Weber signs here he hops the train too. Then we could move a bit more comfortably. Sign Voracek, Maybe snag a depth piece and move salary and call it a summer.

Or weber gets matched and Doan goes elsewhere. Still sign yak and maybe tinker. It's win win. Team isn't that bad but wouldn't hurt to add Doan and weber.

I love the defense first approach too. Losing jagr isn't that big. Jvr might be. But not enough to cripple the offense. Especially wt the defense being better.

jvr has never provided much offense here so its fine he left. you would think we'd get screwed and he'll go to toronto and become what he was projected to be but i believe the guys on here who've seen him play who say he was brought up in a week jersey system. he looks the part but thats about it. we have offense. plenty of it. if we sign doan, he'd essentially take the jagr position but he's a little younger and seemingly more hungry. weber is the best defenseman in the league so that'd just be insane. next week will tell us if this team has become the finished product of homer's tenure. it would just be strong in every area of the game. if he pulls this off, with or without a cup i'd have to consider him the greatest G.M in flyers history.

Patrick Kane was the only player in that top 3 picks worth anything, and hes a bust since he rather party. That whole draft was a failure.

I don't see he or Luke Schenn being anything different with their new teams than they were with their old, and to think that the Leafs want to put JvR at centre wreaks of desperation.

I don't know about Doan. Him on a line with Giroux and Hartnell would be a deadly line. Two bruisers that will do the dirty work for Giroux along the boards while he uses the skill. Doan isn't a bum offensively either. They have some skill. Also Giroux won't be getting pushed around with Hartnell and Doan on his line.

Would put money that if Nashville doesn't match (which I don't think they will), some pieces will definitely be going back.

I just can't see the Preds taking the 4 1st rounders.

I wonder if he knows something about the Phx situation that we don't. He's made it clear that he's only going the UFA route if Phx"s ownership situation isn't resolved. Last week they ruled the city of Glendale won a ruling on an issue that seemed to be the only thing in the way of the sale to Jamison, yet here he is on a UFA tour.
