Yes, we will win tonight. Even with or without Datsyuk in the squad.

I hope you're wrong. I'm getting a bad feeling about tonight's game, though.

Having Datsyuk in the lineup definitely makes the Red Wings a better team.

I said it in a thread on your board, and I'll say it again here- Like my old grand daddy used to say, "The less a man makes declarative statements, the less apt he is to look foolish in retrospect."

Well, we always say Zetterberg is one of the best players in the league....he'll have to carry the mail for Detroit tonite.

You are so right. He'll be facing Pronger and probably Peca a lot this evening. Time for him to show us what he's made of.

Not as much Peca, I don't think. Not with the Wings having last change. Pronger plays about as much as Lidstrom so he'll be out there plenty, but they can keep Peca away from Z if they want to. Then again, Peca hasn't scored at all this year, so if they want to play him 20+ minutes to try and nullify Z, that would really help the Wings out defensively, and the Lang and Shanahan lines would still be open.

I think Babs will let the Oilers put Peca on Hank if that's what they want to do. With Draper centering tonight he'll probably match his line up against their top line. Of course, Babs could go strength on strength and put Hank against their top line, but imo that puts too much pressure on Lang's line to score. We should get a good idea of the strategy based on who starts.

It's kinda strange, but tonite Detroit has essentially two checking lines....the Franzen line and the Draper\Mowers\Shanny line. So really, Babcock could put Draper's line on the Samsonov line and feel pretty good with that. Or he could put Franzen's line on Samsonov and feel good about that as well.

I guess we'll see, but my guess would be that EDM will try to match the Smyth/Horcoff/Dvorak line vs. Zetterburgs, Peca's vs. Lang, and hope the Stoll/Samsonov/Hemsky line can't be handled by anyone else.

What are DET's probable lines for tonight? Draper play with one of the above 2 guys, or is he on his own line?

Draper is centering his own line with Mark Mowers and Shanny. Not a very potent line offensively, but a good skating, defensive minded line with the threat of Shanahan on the wing.

God, I love that we have 3 scoring lines

The Wings lines should look like:
Homer/Zetterberg/Samuelsson
Shanny/Draper/Mowers
Williams/Lang/Yzerman
Maltby/Cleary/Franzen

We've got two decent offensive lines (Hanks is also solid defensively), and two checking lines. Babcock has quite a bit of flexibility, it'll be interesting to see who he likes up against the Horcrof and Samsonov lines.

Apparently Maltby didn't agree.
