Lacky for you rejecting the qualifying doesn't really mean much

So it sounds like this is just negotiations as usual, but are there any possible negative out comes?

Cut the kid some slack. The Canucks really need to make a two year one way offer. That's the best for both sides. We can afford the salary in the minors if we go for a veteran, and he needs some incentive for the club to give him a fair shake.

To me it's pretty black and white.

I have never understood the obsession with reciting really obvious puns that people have been posting ad nauseum. ****** would love you, though.

Anyway, we'll see how this develops I suppose. Would be nice to keep him in the system.

Of course he did. This doesn't surprise me at all, nor should it surprise any of you. He's likely looking for the kind of deal Schneider got a couple years back, a 2 year/1.8mil one-way contract. This ensures him his full 900k salary even if he is forced to spend another year in the AHL.

I think signing him to a contract like that would be a smart move by Gillis. Unless we lock Lack up for longer, he will become a UFA at seasons end unless we play him for a minimum of 25 games. That will be almost impossible to do if we keep Luongo into the season.

Now...
How does this song apply to the thread?
It was an interesting song, but other than learning how to walk and kill the dinosaur and seeing the Flintstones in a whole new way, I don't see any Lack or Lack-related puns.

The song starts with "Lacka Lacka Boom Boom" - I assume that was one of the puns in question.

Also, some of the dance moves seem somewhat reminiscent of Lack's now infamous celebration dance. They look pretty different to me though.

Celebrations start @ 7:17:

Yep, dance moves not similar at all.
Granted all the highlights were a year ago...
But Lack is an interesting goalie.
Lots of potential.
He needs to work on his glove hand though.

I really didn't remember the bit about killing the dinosaur.

EDIT: Why is Alexei Sayle doing a weegie accent? Weird. Thankfully I was in Canada for that. And 5.

I think there's little doubt he doesn't want to be back in the AHL and he has nothing to prove there so NHL/Stockholm makes sense.

Or maybe it's just him saying that he thinks Vancouver and his hometown are both beautiful. I don't really see it as him saying it's NHL or Sweden for him this season. You wouldn't think any random NHL player was coming to Vancouver just because he tweeted that he thinks the city is beautiful.

EDIT: Another user asked him about what ever it meant Vancouver or Sweden, no AHL.

@krufrank No its not. This is where i spent my summers, not my winters!
Also this interview where he says he's not ready to give up his dream of playing in the NHL right now.

If he said #magnitogorsk and #omsk I'd be a little concerned :S

It would be ridiculous if Lack was that impatient and had signed up to the Canucks when he did. Luongo was just starting his 12 year contract at the time, and it was fairly obvious that Schneider was ready to move up soon to be a backup. For him to turn tail for Sweden after just two years after getting himself into that situation would be mental.

Don't believe it for a second.

Q: Where do you play the season coming? Is that clear? If you continue in the Vancouver Organizing?

A: Nothing is definite yet. My agent is working on and trying to find a good solution. I do not rush either because it is more than 2 months until the season starts!

Q: How do you feel that you are doing in Vancouver to get a chance in the NHL?

A: It feels like I have a real chance this year. Feel I developed every year and have taken steps closer so we'll see when the time comes.

Basically, he wants to play in Vancouver next season but won't know his role until the big fish gets removed from the pond.
