Yep. I hate when people say things like "so and so is NOT TOP 6 MATERIAL."

We should put a rating system together to create elite/above average lines by player profile.

Let's say Kane:
Playmaking: elite
Sniping: above average
Speed: above average
Puck Strength: elite
Def Awareness: average (arguable)
Net Presence: N/A
Grit: N/A

Hossa:
Playmaking: above average
Sniping: above average
Speed: average
Puck Strength: elite
Def Awareness: elite
Net Presence: below average
Grit: average

Carcillo:
Playmaking: average
Sniping: average
Speed: average
Puck Strength: average
Def Awareness: average
Net Presence: above average
Grit: above average

That line is either elite or above average in most categories applicable to a solid first line in the west. What Kane and Hossa lack Carcillo brings to the table. Imagine if we were able to keep them healthy all year and have a 1st line of
Sharp/Toews/Doan
It'd be real hard to keep the puck out of the net, even for the trappers.

Obviously, you can come up with a few more categories.

I think he's the best solution we have.Hawks are playing w/o natural skilled 2C at least 3 seasons...Sharp/Bolland are not playmakers (which Hossa needs), Kruger is not top6 player (Hoss didn't score any goal when Kruger was on ice in 20+/- games, 5x5).

agreeing, Kane being our best option doesn't make him a legit C, it's because we don't have a legit C he is our best option.

I was using Crawford as the similar example, Craw is our #1 because we don't have a real #1 not because Crawford should be.
