Crow, or Humble Pie

Next spring, which is more likely:

a. Wild critics <cough> bitter Devils fans </cough>who think we'll still miss the playoffs will devour a heaping helping of crow.

b. Us Wild fans will be force-fed a ginormus serving of humble pie when the Wild face-plant their way to a lottery pick.

I've seen some Wild fans getting a bit ahead of themselves. Whether it's here or just in the real world (). Some have grand-er expectations while I personally would like to see them find their way into a final playoff spot. (I still think Vancouver wins this division comfortably.)

What the Wild did this offseason was something for the long haul. Suter and Parise did sign 13 year contracts after all. Regardless of what happens in this coming season, I won't be leaning too far towards either extreme...

Rome was not built in a day and this team will be about middle of the pack at the end of it because of it. I'm more excited for 2013-2014 season than this season.

I'm on the same page as you. I will reserve bragging until there is something to brag about other than an owner with loose pocket-strings.

Bragging is one thing, but there's nothing wrong with raising expectations...

Barring any major injuries, I expect the Wild to make the playoffs next season. As far as seeding, I don't care, as long as they get into the postseason. If they don't, I will consider this a disappointing season and they will have underachieved...

So I guess that I expect to be bragging.....

Technically speaking, even the last two years they should of made the playoffs. Our division has been weak outside of Vancouver and we still couldn't win those games.

We aren't ready yet to challenge for the division or the cup, but we are getting close. I'd be disappointed if we weren't winning the division in 3 years. Maybe 2 depending on how well our young guns develop.

I think were in the 4-7 spot as far as playoffs goes next year, and we're gonna give the Canucks a good run for the 2 or 3 seed in the conference.

I think we have the right to be confident it will be an "A" we should have made the playoffs last year, and maybe the year before. The amount of injuries last year was record breaking, we might have won the division last year if ir wasn't for all the casualties. Honestly, i'm expecting to contend for the division title with Vancouver, they aren't unstoppable.....

I definitely don't think it should laughed at when somebody says that the division is within reach. I wouldn't consider it "likely" per se, but it isn't that far away.

If we get B, though. Then we'll gain back the 3-5 cups we lost when we went on a winning streak at the end of the year.

I doubt A will ever happen. Not because of us necessarily making the playoffs, but because NJ fans will still find ways to belittle us and make up excuses as to why we made the playoffs in the first place.

A

I feel the team is highly motivated and in good spirits with the additions of Suter and Parise (and others). With the way they played early last season without any real depth to rely on, I believe this season they'll make the playoffs. I do expect to see some growing pains as chemistry is being formed. But for the most part I do believe this team can and will be playoff bound.

This is all assuming there will even be a season, heh.

I just want people to learn from what happened last year. Even if the Wild start off hot.....even if Parise and company start lighting it up early and breaking records......there is A LOT of hockey to still be played. On paper, we should have a good shot at the playoffs. But hockey is played on the ice, and a lot of @#$! can happen between October and April. We can be optimistic, but guarded at the same time.

If we're first in the league again in December, don't go over to the Jersey board bragging. Because it can turn around in the blink of an eye. We have so many more tools this year to help out, but nothing is a guarantee.

I still think we can at least give the Nucks a run for their money on the Division. Whether or not we actually walk away with it is another matter. As long as the Wild can hold up to expectations and be a playoff team I'll be happy for now.
