Yep. Guess what? Richards and Carter don't get the Flyers past the Penguins and out of the first round this year. Richards is lucky he got traded to a stacked team and Carter cried and moaned his way out of Columbus. There is no other way to spin it. Richards and Carter don't get this team past the Penguins. Period. They had 2 chances in 2008 and 2009 and were embarassed miserably. They were good support players for Kopitar, Brown, and Quick and ended up in a perfect situation.

You can borrow the boxscores of the 2008 ECF and 2009 ECQFs, those will work better.

It says nothing, because it's not happening. The organization hasn't changed a whole lot in 20+ years. They're loyal to their players. I still haven't heard Richards or Carter speak poorly of the organization, or Upshall, and Lupul just took a shot at us for trading Richie and Carts with the "can't win with them" comment. Carcillo is just speaking out his ass, and still never bashed the organization, he bashed Lavy and Leighton. JvR's had nothing bad to say about the team since he left, and encouraged his brother to come to the prospect camp.

For every 3,4,5 guys who treat this as a fraternity rather than a pro hockey team and ***** after they've been shipped out, there are 60 others who drop what they're doing and fly in to re-represent their old club in an outdoor alumni game.

Carcillo needs to focus on playing more than 30 some games this year. I see another lengthy suspension coming for him down the road.

I personally love to see what players think of other players and coaches in the league. And Lavy would be an easy coach to hate if you were a player on his team. Constantly yelling about something and never changing up anything with his scheme when you know it isn't working against that specific team. I am more surprised about him saying that about Leighton then Lavy.

that so much of our reputation was based on bobby clarke and his way of doing things while the new management style of paul holmgren and the post cap era places cometition over class.

Oh Carbomb you funny!! This doesn't bother me at all or make me question Lavy, Danny is a loose cannon on the ice why wouldn't he be the same off the ice? I mean when they play the Blackhawks next year I think it's Jan 20th or something most people will have forgotten this, if not let Rinaldo blast him and drop the gloves

A guy having respect or no respect is his own personal opinion.

But coming out in the open and saying you have no respect for another human being, who made his decisions as a coach based on what said guy (Carcillo) put forth on the ice, is just Carcillo being either :

Ignorant towards himself and not wondering WHY he was treated how he was, and traded, or let go in free agency, frankly I can't care to remember which it was (shows how I felt about him).

Or

He's just trying to get attention and with the social media that exists. it's not hard to do, a 3 year old get get online and try to get attention. Which also IMO shows what kind of person he is.

At least, thus far, the group of young players we have now seem more mature (Couturier instantly comes to mind) and level headed than some of the other young players we have had recently. I really enjoy watching the team we have now grow together and just have fun which was something that was always missing during the Carter/Richards era with the amount of pressure placed upon them. Every piece added to this team just seems to enjoy the "party" so to speak and I think we are going to see that even more with the additions of Luke Schenn with his brother, Talbot getting to play with his buddy Gervais, and if Weber comes here, with the Schenn brothers and Hartnell. Exciting time to be a Flyers fan.
I really don't think this group feels any different than the previous one did at the same point in their development. I wonder if people forget how excited many of us were during the 08 conference finals run. The only real difference I guess is Giroux, since he's got more experience than the rest of the young guys on the team.

Credit to those on here who didn't fall or any of this.
He wasn't a total victim of them but you're blind if you think he didn't get reputation calls against him.

If Carcillo wasn't a mental midget, he could be a decent player.

There's a reason he had a reputation.

Yup, he was a disgusting pile of poo in the OHL and ended up suspended for most of his final season.

If Carcillo were taking shots at Leighton he might just fulfill that 20-goal promise amirite?

That's very true, but it doesn't necessarily justify some of the BS calls against him. Although honestly I don't think he got nearly as many unfair "rep calls" as Rinaldo gets. To me Rinaldo isn't half as dirty/ratty as Carcillo but he gets more of those...I mean Rinaldo gets some where I'm scratching my head going "what, 2 minutes for checking?"

I think of the Upshall trade as the beginning of Holmgren taking a blowtorch to the fratboy axis. He was the first to go.

Ah, memories. The spring of 2009 was so much fun on this board. You still haven't let go?

Upshall wasn't exactly lighting the world on fire in 08-09, it was a salary dump and Holmgren was looking to break up the country club atmosphere.

Carcillo's defenders were a tad optimistic, but they weren't as bad as the Scottie fanboys who went into nuclear meltdown.

Yup, much better off.
I think Richards and Carter ended up being much better off- Flyers about the same

Ah, we are talking about Richards and Carter again? Neat. Nice to see so many people are still eager to make absurd claims not based on any sort of rational logic whenever discussing them.

I think Hartnell has ended up being much better off as well from the distractions whoever the ringleader(s) were.....Jags and Giroux were also a big factor in Hartnell's commitment to conditioning and the team in general..just my take on things.

If you're talkng about my particular comment- there was no absurd claim; just a statement of facts, that being, Richards and Carter have a Stanley Cup between them since the trades while the Flyers didn't progress any further in the play-offs in the one year they were missing than in the year before, when they were Flyers. Ergo, Richards and Carter being better off, the Flyers about the same.
