Just illustrating that Dansk is far from the only option here.

I'm actually not in favor of acquiring Bernier if the asking price includes Mason.

Or either of next year's first-round picks.

Or either of the goalies drafted in the 2012 entry draft.

Actually, pretty much any of the stuff being tossed around here.

A couple of mid-round picks or a pick and middling prospect, OK. Throw the three young NHL wanna-be goalies in there and let them sort it out who's 1-2-3.

If Columbus is not ready to deal Dansk/Korpisalo or LA 1st I do not think deal will be possible.

Then I guess a deal won't get made.

All you have to do is look at what Columbus gave up for Bobrovsky. There is no reason to give up more then that for Bernier.

That's OK. I'm not trying to be obstinate or bash Bernier, just my line of thinking.

Dansk has one of the best hockey pedigrees around. I certainly have high hopes for him.

I did like that his first thought was "I'm going to beat Dansk out for the starting job"

So do i, and he seems VERY confident in his ability to play the NA style of hockey. Which seems to take some translating from the euro style. Him playing here 3 years definitely helps.

As for the organization id be very happy if we could be where Montreal was a few years ago with Halak and Price fighting for a #1 position. I just REALLLY hope howson doesnt think we are there right now with bob and mase. Because we definitely are not. And if we wait until dansk and korpisalo develop bob(hopefully) will already be our #1 and they will be fighting for the backup job. Which i guess wouldnt be TOO bad.

Bobrovsky cost us a 2nd and two 4th round picks.

I agree and I'd have no problem dealing Dansk (2nd round pick) or Korpisalo (3rd round) for Bernier.

Trading LA's 1st is borderline, but I'd do it. A late first round pick imo isn't worth much more than what we paid for Bob. When I look at past years drafts, the 16-30 picks develop into substantial NHL players roughly 25% of the time.

I'd pass on a 25% chance 3 or 4 years down the road, to get a guy that was named the top goalie in the AHL two seasons ago, followed by two seasons of backing up one of the top 5 goalies in the world. Bernier is not a sure bet, nothing is, but I like his odds better than 25%.

Don't really like how I am seeing the conversation heading, but whatever. Of course we are interested in Bernier. It's throwing more potential at the wall until something works.

What would be fun is the fall out when one guy wins the starting job.

I'd rather see Bobrovsky with a good veteran to show him how to win as a professional hockey player. Tim Thomas, Nicklas Backstrom etc
Lindback has played in 10 fewer NHL games than Bernier, for the record.

Your first back + Mason + Erixon for Bernier and a prospect.

Howson probably has a deal lined up where we send all of our firsts to LA for Bernier.

That's serious overpayment. 1st+Mason could be considered too much by itself.
