Other people around the forums keep labeling Arnott as a cancer. Anybody have info on that, or have any idea why people are thinking that? Posters have just said "he's a cancer" and then nobody ever provides evidence to back it up. Last time I saw him I remember him being really slow, so that might not work in his favor on a Lavi team.

Having someone who can win 50% of their faceoffs would be nice though.

Thats piss poor managing to say the least.

You don't let Jake Voracek come between you and Shea Weber. Period.

exactly. i do understand why people are hesitant because they have already lost JVR and Jagr out of the top 6. that is quite a bit of scoring lost on the wings.
Having said that, I would think the Flyers go out and get someone. Would the Flyers be weakened still a bit offensively? probably. But they would be better defensively by quite a bit as well.

When looking at the Gratton deal, it has become pretty obvious that Tampa Bay should have just taken the 4 first round picks.

Granted, they won the cup 5 years later. But, the talent the Flyers got with those picks (Simon Gagne, Justin Williams, Max Ouellet, and Tim Gleason) far outweighs the talent of Renberg and Dykhuis at the time of the deal...

Yeah, I don't know anything about all that talk either. What I do know is that Jason Arnott, the player, would be a sweet pickup for us.

I wonder if the Rick Nash trade to the Rangers has anything to do with Sather thinking that Nashville won't watch.

I find it difficult to argue against the point that any loss in offense in this situation would be greatly offset by both the goals against prevented as well as the goals and assists stemming from Weber.

Personally I would not lose Weber due to an unwillingness to part with Jake... and I love Voracek and would like to have him long-term on the Flyers provided his contract is fair.

... I look at it this way; if anyone were offered Weber or Voracek, no one would select Jake -- no offense -- so why not move him if there was no other option? ... I'd certainly try to move a lesser talent in his place, but I'd also consider his contract demands going forward and that might make the decision easier by opening up more options for a veteran winger like Doan, or an established one like Ryan or Nash... I kinda see Voracek as a good fit in bringing in Weber and retaining some of the even younger talent that Poile wants.

EDIT: I didn't yet read about the NYR/Nash deal when I wrote that.

Or that he wants to force us to give up more to get Weber since he's become all the more essential to us.

Homer's incentive to get this deal done just went way above it's already high mark.

get it done homer, give them whatever they want as long as it doesn't include Couturier, Schenn or Giroux (obviously)

Im thinking that just brought extra leverage back to Nashville from a desperation point of view.

With Nash going to the Rags the Flyers really need Weber. This may have driven the Preds asking price up too.

The Nash trade just made Weber's value go down in terms of what Pollie wanted.

Dubinsky, Anisimov, Erixon and a 1st for Rick Nash.

Yeah I agree...thats a pretty weak return for all the drama.

Rick Nash, Jakub Voracek and Sean Couturier for an assorted pile of slop. You outdid yourself this time, Scott Howson.

After demanding Schenn/Couturier plus that is what got the Nash deal done....? In retrospect considering the cap space allowed us the opportunity to pursue Weber I'm ok with not going after Nash but wow.... what a ****ing joke. Scrub players and a pick for a star player. That line top line is going to be disgusting and without Weber I have a feeling our luck against the Rangers isn't changing anytime soon.
