Guelph-London Last Night ....

Wasn't able to watch the game - was it as bad as the line score looked from a London perspective? Seems as if they were totally outplayed in every aspect of the game. PP opp's looked one sided for Guelph as well .... Knights have to play better on Sunday - or this will a quick series and it won't be London winning it.

London was completely outplayed (similar to Thursday night in London, actually) - the biggest difference was that Macker was a little bit better than Thursday, and Dennis was worse.

Guelph's PK was outstanding - the big 5 had very few real scoring chances, and when they did, Macker was right there.

It kind of looked like the ice was slanted towards the London end all game. Guelph controlled every part of the game. If the PPs looked lop-sided, that's usually what happens when one team has to play defense all game and can't stop the other team without doing something illegal.

Very strange

The oddest mix on a game I have seen the Knights play this year.

First of all the forechecking was very tight and this is what caused most of the headaches for London. The defense had lots of trouble moving the puck out with any organization. and when the puck did come out it seemed to jump about crazily like a rubber ball.

Secondly Guelph was hustling and London was not. Guelph definitely took the game to London

The most deadly thing was that everything clicked and bounced Guelph's way. And once it started clicking and the score mounted Guelph kept taking chances because they had a lead. Something they definitely did not do game 1.

Goaltending? Macker had 20 shots to handle and really was not a factor. Dennis on the other hand was giving up goals after the stopping the initial shot. The notable exception being his gaff on the first goal. In short, neither goalie was really good or really bad.

The reffing was not a factor, but was definitely not a "new rules" called game. Lots of leeway was given.

Full marks to Guelph for a good win.

Side note: it was clearly evident that there were LOTS of tickets available and many London fans took advantage, myself included. The game ended up a sellout, but I question whether that would have happened without so many London patrons. What gives in Guelph? they have a good team in a tightly contested series and so many tickets available. It explains why there are so many empty seats seen on TV in the regular season.
