My goodness we were annihilated by previous management.
They have 4 legit superstars on their team and we have one potentially in Price. Go figure.

Yes, the Rangers got by far the best player in the trade, but I think you undervalue Dubinsky and Anisimov, and who knows how the first will turn out. Besides, the Habs weren't close rivals of the Rangers before the trade, so it'll have little effect on where they finish next season. It wouldn't affect them as much, say, as the Bruins' signing Chara as a free agent.

I don't think they'll play together. I'm thinking Nash-Stepan-Callahan... which is still a great 1B line.

I'm not a big Rick Nash guy...I think he's arguably the most overrated player in the NHL. But that trade must be a joke.

That's what Howson's been holding out for?? lol

Jeez

The Rangers are singlehandedly going to lead to the closing of the salary dump loophole in the new CBA, assuming an agreement is reached. Prepare for more Scott Gomez.

We'd probably have to give up Plekanec over Gionta.

Nash deal now official. It's Nash, conditional 3rd rder (it goes back to CBJ if NYR make Cup final) and minor leaguer Steve Delisle to NYR.

An equivalent deal would probably be Leblanc, Eller, Weber and MTL 2nd + CGY 2nd.

Still a rip off.

i believe that Howson should have the police check him for vaginal trauma-as in most sexual assault cases. CBJ just took two steps backward as a franchise.

I wrote basically the same thing on twitter but generously gave Dubinsky Plekanec as a comparison. The rest was the same.

I don't think I am. Dubisky has been overated and it showed last year with his 10 goals while losing his place to the likes of Kreider, Hagelin or Stepan. Anisimov is pretty much what Eller is right now. I stand by my two third liners comment.

Stick a fork in the Jackets, they are done. Who the hell are they going to get to buy tickets to watch that sad-sack collection of players?

Just an awful trade for the Jackets. Give up their franchise superstar and get 2nd & 3rd liners back. Awful deal.

I don't think it's a bad deal for Columbus given the context.

Is Howson trying to convince people that the components of this trade, Erixon, Dubinsky and Anisimov not available at the trade deadline or the draft?

Nash has been on the block for 4 or 5 months...he waited all that time for that package?

Dubinsky is younger than Gio.
To my knowledge, Eller never had more than 28pts in the NHL although he has the potential to be as good as Anisimov.
Erixon has more potential than Diaz.

^^^this.

I can't believe that happened. Look at how stacked these teams are becoming with superstars and prospects. Boston, Philly, New York, Pittsburgh. It's sick. it is absolutely disgusting. MB has his work cut out for him.

Yeah outside of Anisimov, the rest don't match up well at all.

Considering what is being said the asking price from other teams were, I'd guess:

Dubinsky+1st = Plekanec
Anisimov = Eller
Erixon = Beaulieu

For what it's worth.... 2 of them will likely be late picks.

CBJ now have three first-round draft picks in 2012-13: their own, #NYR and #LAKings."

Just fire Howson. The guy is a joke.

How you don't exit with at least one of Kreider or J.T. Miller is criminal.

1st overall, 29th overall, 30th overall is a strong possibility.

So last year Columbus had Nash and Carter. Now they have a bag of spare parts.
Good job Howsen. He gives every borderline retarded person the hope that they too, one day, can become an NHL general manager. This guy is right behind Milbury in the crappy GM category.

I don't see how he survives another year as GM. Worse the PG IMO. Way worse.

I was looking at Nash teammates over the years and im sure he's gonna have a carrer year with the Rangers.

What a brutal trade.

Dubinsky : Good player, but he fit like a glove with JT in NY. Not sure he's gonna that effective in CLB.
Anisimov : Srsly? Just sign Andrei Kostitsyn.
Erixon : Solid prospect, but he's not a can't miss bluechip. The Rangers had much better options in their pipeline.
1st pick : Rangers finished 1st...... LOL

Post-Playing career

Howson first became the GM of the Edmonton Oilers AHL affiliate, the Cape Breton Oilers and then the Hamilton Bulldogs. When Glen Sather left the Edmonton Oilers for the New York Rangers, and the Oilers hired Kevin Lowe, Lowe immediately promoted Howson to the Oilers where he served as assistant GM to from 2002–2007. On June 15, 2007, Howson was named general manager of the Blue Jackets. Howson has a twitter account in which he occasionally tweets updates in regards to his team such as injuries, trades and signings.
