do people really think the deadline deal of just dubinsky as the only roster player with 3 prospects and a pick is better than 2 roster players, erixon (who was agreed to at the deadline too) and the 1st round pick in a better draft?

Sather got the deal done on his terms.

So which team is giving the Rangers a #1 pick as part of the package for Gaborik next June?

if we can't resign him, that might be exactly what Sather does...

holy crap!

Most of us were close in the value. We got more dangerous offensively.

Hopefully Miller takes a spot too.

AFAIK, they're still in the South Pacific on their honeymoon. Don't expect this will be welcome news. Loved NY & the NYR.
Ouch. Poor guy. Really would have liked to keep him around.

Patience pays off: NYR acquire Rick Nash AND hold onto Kreider, Stepan, Hagelin, McDonagh, Del Zotto--all sub-25-yr old core players.

Miller might end up on the 3rd line before the season is over IMO.

This is HF, where unproven prospects are ten times more valuable than proven NHL players.
I'd say the packages are nearly the same.

Why is that? If we have a chance to win the cup in the last year of his contract, which looks like the case, why would he trade him?

well Miller does have the potential to be much better than either Dubi or Artie, but no guarantees.

Not a bad deal but two guys from a 51-win CF team are gone.

Anybody who's been a fan of this franchise for a while would be remiss if they weren't a little skeptical. It comes with the territory.

Nash better produce here.

At the very least, we are going to have Nash, Gaborik and Richards playing together for a cup for at least 2 years.

I am really going to miss Dubinsky and Anisimov. I am not a fan of Nash's contract, but he is one of the best players in the game. We basically now have 2 first lines.

The optimist in me says that both of those guys didn't have too much to do with the 51 wins since they had seasons below their standards.

The pessimist says Nash put up 59 points last year, and Dubi and Arty would probably rebound and make us a really deep team.

I like some aspects of the trade and I dislike other aspects. In a vacuum, player value only, it's a fleece by Slats. How much it benefits us is still very much to question, though.

Here's to hoping Nash makes his name as a superstar here in NY.

and with Gabs back, a 3rd line (even without Doan). WITH Doan, 2 1st lines and a second line.
