Thinking about it--one of the bright sides--Kreider, Stepan, McD--all still Rangers as well as MDZ, Hagelin, Miller and McIlrath.

Nash is 28 yrs old and yea its alot of money but Gaborik is off the books in 2 yrs so it wont cripple the team from signing the kids

Dubi and AA are original Rangers. Alot of us have soft spots for them yes but it had to be done.
Erixon will be good but they have Staal, McD, DZ on the LD already. and the kid they drafted in the first round this yr.

They didnt move Miller, Thomas or Hagelin which is awesome. McIlrath is likely a 3rd pair NHL Dman eventually.

Why does everyone keep acting like NYR ripped off CBJ so badly!?!??!!?!?

Rangers didnt give up any big pieces. But did move 1 excellent D prospect and 2 fwds who can still be very valuable anywhere they go and on top of that CJ adds a 1st rndr..... What did you expect CBJ to get or really want. This deal is fair from both sides.

CBJ didnt get hosed. They add 2 players with a lot of potential and still young and 2 more prospects.

I...can't...believe...that just happened. wow..just...wow...does glen sather have some kind of magic pixie dust he tosses on other gm's to trick them into these things. that is unbelieveable. a centerman coming of his worst year. an unproven prospect and some russian who's probabley gonna bolt for the KHL now that he's in hockey's ********* market. o, and a 30th overall pick. wow. christ. enjoy your cup guys.

@Vitto

Improved our top 6, weakened our forward depth and defensive depth, potentially weakened our chemistry.

One step forward, two steps backwards.

Sorry, not dramatic at all. I've been against this EXACT deal since people have been predicting it for months now.

We have the same problems we had in the playoffs last year. Our top 4 defensemen will play too much and we have a 4th liner playing 3rd line center.

did it ever occur to you that since the Rangers, on paper anyway, should be a MUCH better offensive team, that we wont...
1) Be facing so much time defending
and
2) Have a few more easy games so we can lighten the top 4's load

?

If you're up 4-zip heading into the 3rd, you dont need to play Girardi, Staal, MCD and MDZ nearly as much as if youre in a 2-2 game.

It occurred to me. I'm skeptical that what you're saying will be the case.

No Del Zotto, no Kreider, no Stepan, no Hagelin, no Miller, not even a McIlrath. Sather is a magician. Absolutely love the trade. I was completely against acquiring Nash. The details of this deal changed my mind instantly.

I think it's a big risk.

I still get flashbacks of Gomez/Lindros.

I hope this works out.

Wanted no part of the Nash contract and don't believe he'll be as good as many fans think...he's a low 30s goal score and costs too much. However, as a hockey trade this is a huge win. I'm just concerned about the production vs cap cost.

I wish Nash's cap hit were 1M lower...but dealing for him was inevitable, so all things considered it's a good deal. But the guy better play like he cares and chip in for 35-45 goals or he's not going to be feeling the love in NYC.

I agree. I don't think this necessarily makes us a much better offensive team than we were yesterday.

One of the best trades I have ever seen!!! Sather deserves alot of credit for this one....

He gets a top line power foward who is a star and signed without giving up anyone of Krieder,MCD,Stepan,MDZ,or Staal.....

Howson is an idiot and he is now Glen Sathers ***** imo...Congrats....dont beat up on us to bad....

Dubi is a good player; especially defensively and physically. But his offensive instincts are offensive and he was never going to fix out biggest issues; putting the puck in the next and the PP. Wait till Nash starts dangling on the PP opening up lanes for everyone else. We haven't had that guy since Jagr when our PP was last lethal.

I do agree on the Boyle point. He needs to be on the 4th line. Maybe he can be traded for a legit 3rd line center.

Still not a fan of Nash's contract but this was the trade I was willing to do for him. I'd say B+, not a total steal but appropriate for the player value.

Love it, the top-6 is starting to look scary good now. Nash was exactly the kind of player NYR was missing.

Nash-Richards-Gaborik
Kreider-Stepan-Callahan

Hell, Hagelin is a #3 LW now. Finally, depth!

Pretty much this. I wouldn't have liked Nash as a 7.8 millione UFA signing, I sure don't like trading for him. But compared to many proposals that were out there, this is about the best deal we could've hoped for.
