A very good read about the history of offer sheets dating back from 1986. There was a story about the Sharks using a cleverly structured offer sheet on Craig Simpson back in 1993.

My favorite story out of there was how St. Louis landed Scott Stevens and then lost him due to their own greed.

Eventually the issue went before an arbitrator, who awarded Scott Stevens to the Devils, nullifying the Blues’ 1990 move.

Anyone have any idea what going on with the Ducks seemingly punishing their defense core by trading them for peanuts to the Islanders?
Of course apparently Visnamestolong might of had an ntc the Ducks forgot about.
Because they think that the defence was actually good when they had nieds and pronger but cant understand why they all of a sudden blow chunks once those 2 left the team.
NSH matches PHI offer sheet on Weber. Not surprised. Would've been OK to give up Weber in trade but NSH couldn't lose him for draft picks.
I guess Holmgren's thinking is that he'd rather Weber go to Philly or stay in Nashville. Nashville is gonna have a tough time competing now and aren't much of a threat for a cup anyways. If Weber was an UFA next year, he could have chosen NYR, Vancouver, Detroit, etc which could directly impact Philly's chance at a cup.
P.S Weber is an idiot. Next year might have been his only taste of UFA and now he's locked in for the rest of his career. He didn't even get a chance to get wined and dined and choose his destination.
