We knew Dubi was on the way out. Artie and Dubi have both shown issues with consistency. Losing the Erixon potential stings the most imo
Exactly, if Dubi was consistent he would never have been traded. A fan favorite who helped turn around this franchise. But you have to give to get.
I'm not as worried about Erixon because our top four looks solid for the forseeable future, with Skjei projecting to add offense to the blueline. As long as DZ keeps his confidence and there are no more serious injuries I don't feel losing Erixon is going to matter for the Rangers.
The only thing that concerns me about the trade is the lack of depth on the third line. The thought of having Boyle out against other speedy third lines makes me cringe. Once Gaborik is healthy, one of Hagelin, Kreider or Callahan will be on the third line; but, the lack of a third line center is what concerns me the most. IMO, center is the most important offensive position and not having a capable third line center may be a bigger problem than originally thought.
I would be ecstatic if Slats signed one of Hecht, Arnott or Langkow as a stop gap until a prospect can take over the responsibilities. In this market, it might be difficult to snag one of them on a cheap 1/2 year deal but considering our situation, it would definitely be worth a try.
They might think that JT Miller is ready to take on that 3rd line center position.
There are idiots over there claiming Arty was better than Callahan defensively, etc. My God. I sometimes hate posting on a board full of casual fans like that.
I feel it's my job to educate the slow ones, but it's so frustrating.

Brady Skjei doesn't appear to be far from playing in the NHL.
Miller is not far from playing in the NHL.
Entry level contracts.
The analysts on draft day made it seem like he was at least 3 years away.

Not to mention Artie is going to want a nice raise after next year like Sather mentioned.
We didn't. Moving Anisimov out doesn't make the trade any better, but it frees up cap room so that we are only adding about 2 mil in cap. Big difference.
Firstly i just want to wish Dubi, Arty and Erixon the best.
Now i love this deal, I wanted to hold onto Miller and although losing Erixon stings a little it's definitely not a massive loss to the roster. The only issue with Nash was always the cap hit but i think it's a risk we needed to take.
Of course we chanted we dont want you! If I was there I would have chanted it too. No shame here. I thought our team would be going to the cup finals or farther. I didnt want us to trade away half our team at that point.
Now we see where we are weak, who was weak, and Ive got no problem with Nash coming here--for what Sather got him for.
I have no attachment to Erixon whatsoever. He was behind Staal, McD and MDZ on the depth chart, and the Rangers just drafted Skjei. I'm not seeing how his departure is the one the Rangers will feel the most in this deal.

Very happy.
with what we gave up for Nash (Dubi signed for 3 more years, AA due a raise), the actual added payroll to this team is very minimal for a talent like Nash.
