It's funny. I sit here most of the year and I'm one of a handful of people with a generally positive outlook on Sather and the way things are running on the team. I believe Gorton and Clark believed Miller would be ready at this point, when they drafted him.
He's a player they've always had on an accelerated development path. And Miller himself.
That's why they wanted him signed ASAP as did he, when they drafted him.
He's going to start in Hartford. They moved Wellman out, i believe,to specifically make room for Miller.
The lockout will allow Miller a couple/few months of good professional play. And when the lockout breaks and NHL teams hit the ice, i believe there's a strong possibility he will be in New York.
Over the course of the next few years, the insertion of cheap young players is going to be very important for this club.
Lundqvist, Stepan, McDonagh, Staal, Girardi, Callahan, Kreider, Hagelin, Gaborik...they all need New contracts in the next three years.
Another player i feel is a strong candidate for earning a spot here soon, is Yogan.
i have a feeling that if things don't work in Phoenix and Doan wants to find a relatively young team with the potential for winning a Cup and a need for a 3rd line guy with insane leadership and veteran presence he's got his match made in Heaven. Nash just makes it more appealing now...

Can they pony up the 26 mil or so in the 1st year? That seemed to be the biggest issue. Personally I hope they do for the sake of their franchise and more so screwing over the Flyers.
This could backfire on Holmgren. If the Weber offer sheet pushed Howson to cave knowing that his other suitors for Nash are down to zilch, and Holmgren doesn't get Weber, he might as well go buy new underwear if Nashville matches because.... His defense without Pronger is suspect, his goaltending is as good as a larger than normal traffic cone, and his offense took a hit losing Jagr and not getting Parise.

I never agree with you 100%, not even 1% on most things, but here I do. This year was proof of that with Hagelin during the regular season and Kreider during the post season. Last year with McDonagh and Sauer.
I agree that he's a 2nd liner, but if Callahan were on the third line that would be a great thing for the Rangers, as it would mean great depth.
You can't cut Cally's minutes too much by dropping him to the 3rd line. He's too much of a spark out there and the team feeds off his energy too much. He's shown himself to be a 30 goal scorer when he gets his minutes. Keep him with 2nd line minutes, even if you bring Doan in.
